I couldn't believe what I was seeing. In my hands I held a ticket to Paris with the name Ashley. I read it over and over again until I was positive that this ticket was for me.
"Who?"
"How?"
"But why?"
"Why would anyone send this invitation for me? The girl who stays home when the whole neighborhood is outside partying. The girl who only had one close friend, who left me for God knows what."
I searched the card for any information that could help answer my questions. At the bottom of the card in the tiniest handwriting I found an address.
"Why does this address sound so familiar?"
Not wanting to waste any more time then I already had, I quickly grabbed my keys and got in the car. I typed the address in the GPS, finding out that my destination was only fifteen minutes away.
I parked the car infront of a huge house, with a beautiful garden, and a long pathway to the main door. I nervously made my way to the main door. When I rang the door bell I heard the sound echo through the house. A girl about the same age as me opened the door.
"How may I help you?" asked the girl.
"Umm...I wanted to know if this invitation card has been sent from this house," I nervously said.
"Please come inside, my mother is in the living room," and the girl disappeared.
As I stepped inside the house I saw photos of a chubby little girl on the wall. Why do I feel like I've seen her before? The girl had a big smile on her face very similar to Lauren's. Removing the thoughts from my head I continued down the hall into the living room and saw a middle aged woman reading a book. Not knowing what to do, I cleared my throat. The woman looked up and gave a small smile.
"Can I help you?" said the woman in her sweet voice.
"Yes, I got an invitation card and it was sent from this address. I think you sent this to the wrong person."
"Oh do you have the card with you darling?"
"Yes ma'am," I said as I slowly handed her the card.
She eyeballed the card very quickly and looked up with a huge smile.
"Is your name Ashley Morris?"
"Yes."
"Then this card was suppose to be sent to you," the woman said handing me back the card.
"But I don't even know who you are and I'm not sure you know who I am either," I said in a confused tone.
The woman didn't try to respond to my comment instead she called out the name Lauren. Wait, what the hell did she just say!? Lauren...This can't be the same Lauren who left me when I most needed her. This couldn't be the person who didn't answer any of my calls, or reply to any of my texts. This can't be the girl that I've known my entire life, and then left me without any explanations. Can she?
"Yes mom," said the girl interrupting my thoughts.
I looked up to see a gray eyed, brown haired girl. She was tall, skinny and very pretty. She was to busy on her iPhone, not bothering to look up.
"Lauren look who is here to meet you," said the woman.
"Who?" said Lauren still lost in her phone.
"Maybe if you actually looked up you would know," her mom said angrily.
Lauren finally looked at me and suddenly froze.
"Ashley...."
So there it is. I know the chapter is short and boring right now, but I promise it will get better once the story gets going. Please tell me what you think so far, I would love to know. This chapter is dedicated to my best friend. I love her to death and she means the world to me!! There is a picture of Lauren in the side bar>>>
