When we got to the restaurant I noticed that it looked really expensive. I also noticed I was very underdressed, I had on a pair of holey jeans and the crop top he bought me with my dirty white
Converse. Compared to him and others sitting at tables, I didn't evenhave a chance.

"Are you positive we have to eat here?" I pleaded, but it came out a little whiny.

"I said I wasn't taking no for an answer," he led the way to a table. He walked in as if he owned the place. Come to think of it, he walked like that everywhere.

Once we got to our table he pulled my chair out for me. After we sat down I tried folding my arms and hiding my outfit. Being around all these nicely dressed people made me uncomfortable. Henoticed me looking around awkwardly, "Are you okay?"

I snapped my head back and smiled. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just kind of feels like I stand out because of the way others are dressed."

"You'd stand out no matter what you're wearing," I held his gaze as he said this. This guy has a way with his eyes, and I'm the victim of them every time.

"What can I get y'all," the waiter exclaimed, pulling me out.

"Water, please," I said. She gave me a look, but just wrote down my order.

"Tea, please," he noticed her expression. "And if this is how you treat all your customers then we need a new waiter," he stood up andsaid something else only she could hear.

"Yes sir, always sir," she dashed away to get our drinks and he sat back down and smiled at me.

"Do I dare ask what just happened?"

"For your sake, I wouldn't," the waiter came back with the drinks, he paused. When she walked away he continued, "now, let's get down to business!"

"What exactly is it that I'll be doing? I feel like it's something," I paused to think of the right word. "Suspicious?"

"Would it be more interesting if it was?" he wiggled his eyebrows.

"Haha, maybe. I just need to know what it is I'll be doing exactly because I might need to prepare."

"Oh you're gonna need to prepare," he pulled out some papersfrom his bag. "This will help you. This is information about me thatyou'll need to know. You might want to memorize it."

"Wait, wait," I looked through the papers. "I have to remember all of this? How is this even possible? I have two days."

"That's plenty of time."

"Not when you have school, work, and a life," the waiter came back with appetizers. I probably should have told her to quit wastingtime on us because I was about to leave.

He waited until she left to continue, "You'll be fine. I believe inyou. Now, for real fun, the task. My parents are throwing this hugeparty with some business friends and I need a date."

"So I have to go with you to a party because you don't want tolook lonely to some old business people?"

"Exactly," he started eating. "You caught on quite fast." This comment made me furious, I'm not some stupid little girl.

"You know what," I stood up from the table and grabbed the papers. "I'll help you, then we'll be even. But after that, I don't want to see you ever again." I was getting ready to turn and walk awaywhen it hit me. I have a track meet on Saturday. "One more thing, I have plans on Saturday so guess you'll have to figure something out.You probably have tons of-"

"Where?"

"What?"

"I asked where your track meet was," he looked at me expectantly, but I couldn't speak. I couldn't move. How does he know about that? How does he know I have a track meet?

"Um, well i-it's in," I stumbled over my words. "It's in Ultra, it's like three hours away. I'm one of the last ones to run and I'll be back late because I have to ride the bus back, a-and," I trailed off.

"Look it's okay," he stood up and sat me back in my chair. "I'll come get you, we'll be back in half the time. Then I'll find someone to help you get ready and I'll make sure you have everything you need.Once that's all taken care of, all you have to do is enjoy the partyand when it's over we part ways, deal?"

I thought about his offer, "Deal."
