"Some girls are so fortunate that they have everything in life; neither have they had to work hard nor do they have to ask for it. And then there is me, who has to work hard every day to fulfill my basic needs.

This year, I will graduate, and maybe I will also be placed in an average company with a decent package. But I don't think my troubles will end here. After this, I would be forced to marry, and then another painful chapter of my life would start, full of compromises. I don't even want to think about it as of now.

I want to take one chapter at a time, just the way my best friend Vidushi takes it. But I am not like her.

As I was about to complete the sentence, my phone beeped, a message popped up with 'Hi' from an unknown but a familiar number. I quickly searched and found it in my dialed numbers; oh, so it is his number. I wanted to reply, but he wasn't my problem, and I was certainly sure about his reason for messaging me. So, I decided to continue with my diary.

But I am not like her. She can't understand human greed and their behavior, like the way she wasn't able to understand this guy and his kind favors towards her. She thinks there are selfless people, but I don't think there is any, as they say, 'there is no free lunch.'

With that, I closed my diary and decided to sleep. But I could never sleep without overthinking my unseen fate. I could never enjoy my nighttime without rethinking my decisions and the choices I have made.

'Sanyukta... Sanyukkkta,' that call was enough to wake me up from sleep. I rubbed my eyes, yawned a little, and got off from my bed.

'Good morning,' Vidushi greeted me.

'Just morning,' I replied, and she chuckled.

It was her routine to wake me up. We are both the same age and in the same department, but she has been like an elder sister to me.

'Such a beautiful day, Sanyukta,' Vidushi said as we were heading towards the college from the hostel.

'It can rain anytime, Vidushi. Let's walk faster,' I replied.

'Let's get drenched together,' Vidushi demanded, to which I strongly disagreed.

But things that are meant to always happen, no matter how much you're against it.

It started pouring. The sound of the raindrops made me seek a shed.

'Sanyukta, come on, just for a little time,' Vidushi gestured me to join her.

Ignoring her, I looked for an umbrella in my bag and ran towards her after opening it.

There she was, already under someone else's umbrella. Randhir Singh Shekhawat had already offered her help.

When I went there, he smiled and nodded his head, to which I ignored.

'Vidushi, I am getting late. Let's walk faster,' and taking her under my umbrella, I started walking faster, away from Randhir."
