Chapter 2 ~ The Sea Captain's Job

Nothing could make Beidou happier than the sight of a sparkling clean boat. Well, she could think of one thing that had nothing to do with her life at sea.

"Good work, boys!" the sea captain shouted with a nod. "Looks like I'll keep you on board after all..."

The crewmates laughed good-naturedly. "I knew you weren't serious about replacing us with the Dawn Winery maids, Captain," Chief Mate Juza joked. "The truth is, you would be lost without us!"

Beidou grinned ear-to-ear. "Now I haven't heard anything so true in my life. Alright then, go out on the town before Chef Mao decides you ladies aren't man enough for some Jueyen Chili Chicken!"

The crew scattered, whooping and hollering as they were set free from duty at last. Beidou sighed, leaning on the railing of her faithful ship and letting the weight of the past few months slip off her shoulders. Now she could finally relax, let herself do whatever she wanted, let herself have whatever or whomever she wanted...

"Whatcha thinkin' 'bout, Captain?"

Beidou snapped out of her daydream. Juza was grinning, watching her from a few feet away.

"What're you still doing here Juza? Don't you wanna go out with the boys?"

Juza looked over at the bustling harbor. "Sure, but I just wanted to make sure we didn't leave our Captain out of all the fun."

Juza was always looking out for Beidou when she didn't always put herself first. There was a reason he was her Chief Mate.

"Aw man, I appreciate it but I have some other business to attend to tonight."

Juza's eyes opened wide in mock shock. "My captain is continuing to overwork herself by taking on business even after our long trip at sea just ended? C'mon, I know this is so you but also please just let yourself go for once." he pleaded.

Beidou sighed. "I know you're trying to look out for me, and I really appreciate that. But seriously, I'll be fine. I guess I shouldn't even call it business, it's more of... meeting a friend."

Juza relaxed. "Oh, that's great to hear! Alright then, just make sure to enjoy yourself tonight, and I'll see you later."

Juza waved goodbye and made his way back to the harbor.

Enjoy myself tonight... now that should be an easy job.
