The Sun and Moon

   CHAPTER 1
At five I was named like everyone else but something was different with me. All the people of the dark were named after dangerous things. Like poisonous plants or water but I wasn't. Instead I was named Moon for having the darkest hair but palest skin. Which was surprising to everybody because my family was the Waters. They look just like they sound, dark blue hair and tan skin. Being the oldest child of the Waters you have a lot to live up to. My brother is the prefect child that seems loving and kind but will kill you with out blinking. Me, I'm just here, in my room by myself like usual. It all started on my thirtieth birthday it was a huge party. Which was no surprise my parents always though the best and biggest for my brother and I so they seemed like loving parents. Everything was going fine in till I went to sleep. I woke up to screaming of a woman who was very familiar to me. My mother yelled at me to stop but I didn't know what I was doing I looked at my father who was getting choked by a dark mist. I had never seen my parents so afraid before. That was my power. Worst power ever, I never have control over it and I don't see what is happing in till it's too late. 3 years gone and I am still a pain to my family's name. But hopefully everything would change tomorrow. Tomorrow would be the day I get paired with a partner from the light side so that we can help each other with our powers. I came out of all of these thoughts of being a pain when my father yelled at me to go get a shipment of food from the border. I went with out even a thought. That was the only time they really ever talked to me. That or when I was in big trouble. My brother on the other hand would be with them nonstop everyday. He's the perfect son they always wanted and I'm the daughter they had to have. When I got to the border a tall blonde guy stood on the other side. He looked about my age maybe a bit older. As I got closer he looked me up and down. He looked so confused.
"Your not Mr. Waters." He said with a questioning look.
"Ha, no kidding. I'm his daughter Moon."
"Moon?" He said still puzzled.
"Yeah." Were all people of the light this dumb or just this guy.
"That's a weird name."
"Thanks." I said sarcastically. We both stood there awkwardly until I asked, "So are you going to give me the bucket or are we just going to stand here and stare at each other for ever?"
"Oh sorry" he said handing me the bucket of food.
"Thanks." I say as I turn and walk away. Back to my room so I don't have to talk to anyone else.
"Sunny!!" he yelled. I paused and turned around.
"What?" I ask
"Sunny. That's my name." He said with a smile. His smile was just like the rest of him, perfect. It was annoying.
"Nice to meet you, Sunny." I said then turned back around to walk home.
"Nice to meet you too, Moon." He said.
When I got home it was almost sunset. My mom was sitting by the door when I came in. I set the bucket down just in time for her to start yelling at me.
"Where have you been it's almost night. You know what happens what night comes. You were just supposed to get the bucket and come home. You ..." I zoned her out I have heard this speech so many times that I know exactly what she's going to say. I stay there until she's done yelling and then walk to my room. I put the cuffs on and pressed the bottom to lock me in. It wouldn't release without a code or the morning came. I waited and watched the sun go down over the horizon and as soon as it did everything went black. And like usual no dreams just screams. This night it was a woman screaming and she kept yelling,
"Please don't hurt my boys please don't hurt my boys." I finally woke up my head hurt and the sun had just peaked from the horizon. I slowly got up and I heard whispering coming from out in the front room. Which was weird usually my family doesn't wake up till later in the morning. I cracked open my door to see my mom and dad standing over a body of a woman I couldn't see her face because her blond hair was covering it. I tried to hear what they were saying but could only get small pieces of there conversation.
"What do we do with the body...... we can't just leave her."
"She is part of the high family of the light side.....we'll leave it there." I tried to hear where they were leaving it but I couldn't. I then heard footsteps coming towards my room. I jumped away from my door and started rummaging through my closet for my uniform for the test for my powers. I heard my door open behind me.
"Good your up, you're going to have to walk to the chamber. Me and your father are going to be running an errands."
"Ok." I said softly. She left and walked towards my brother's room. I put on my dress and walked towards the chamber that would hopefully change my life. The chamber was a huge building in the middle of the border so that both the people from the dark and the people from the light can go inside. I stood in line. I was so nervous what were they going to do if I didn't show them my powers. I couldn't it was the morning. By the time I got to the front of the line it was mid day it felt like everything was going so slow. As I walked into the chamber they asked me my name. I told them and then went into a small room where there was a woman standing there holding the door. I thought she was going to come inside with me but instead she closed the door behind me and left me standing alone.
"Hello Moon" a voice called. I looked around but didn't see anyone. "You can't see us for our safety, but we can see you. So please show us your ability." I stood there and didn't move. The voice waited for a minute before saying something, "Well, go ahead."
"I can't." I whispered.
"Please speak up, we can't hear you very well in here."
"I can't." I said louder.
