"Y/n..."

"Y/n?"

"Smurf," I rolled my eyes at the nickname as Rubi called out for me from the other room. "Nigga I know you hear me." I ignored her keeping my eyes locked on my phone. 

"Y/n." The light-skinned girl said my name once again, but this time she was standing in the doorway of my bedroom. 

"What?" 

"Nigga is you deaf?" 

"Didn't I just respond to you?" I didn't even have to look at her to know she was rolling her eyes. 

I knew her like the back of my hand so there was nearly nothing she could do that I couldn't call before it was done.

"Smart ass," She mumbled under her breath but, I heard her. "Do you want some wings?" I looked up at her with a smile on my face.

"You already know the answer to that." With that, she turned around and walked out of the doorframe, going back to the kitchen.

Feeling my phone buzz, I opened it back up to my messages. And quickly caught up on what Drew and Jack were saying.

I shook my head at what Drew said. 

Rubi and I have been friends literally since we were twelve years old. 

We had the typical I hate you dynamic going on until we got to high school and only knew each other there. 

Of course, she made her friends and I made mine. 

But even though we had our separate groups, we were inseparable. 

We grew close when kids found out I was intersex. They started to talk shit, calling me every name in the book. But Rubi was one of the few people who had my back. 

So from then, I had hers as well. 

From middle school to high school If she needed a shoulder to cry on I was there,  if she needed to vent I was there, if she needed me to pull up if she was in a bad situation I was there in less than ten minutes. 

I was her right hand and vice versa. 

And thankfully it was still that way today because it is extremely hard to find friends like that. 

But back to Drew, every time I told him Rubi was over (which was basically every other day) he would 'joke' about us needing to date.

Rubi was far from ugly. 

Everyone knows that. 

We were just too good of friends to even try to date.
