The ride almost felt like a blur. I watched as Gale's limp body lay silent but alive on the bed. The steady beat of the machine kept me company. I've been here for 6 or 7 hours, just waiting. I've seen some friends come and then go for class or other things. I was still wearing the bungee belt. No doctor has said anything about why he suddenly passed out. He was stable and getting well, that's all I needed to know. I have no idea what I would do without his friendly kind smile, or his strong arms that hold me ever so often, or his eyes that make everything that he says more interesting. They did a cat scan and an MRI scan.
What even are those things?
My phone buzzes.
I forgot that I had this thing.
I look at my phone. One message from JAMES EVERLAST
Hey Emma, I just heard the news. How is Gale? I know that he is one of your closest friends, I just wanted to make sure you are alright. I also wanted to ask some questions. Sent at 3:10 P.M.
He hasn't woken up yet, but stable. I'm okay, I've just been in his hospital room for a couple hours. And ask away. Sent at 3:11 P.M.
Well, at least he's in good hands. And I wanted to ask these questions in person. If you're up to it of course. Sent at 3:12 P.M.
Um, okay. When? Sent st 3:14 P.M.
How about 8 tonight. I'll pick you up. Plus I want to see how he is as well. I was teaching all day. Sent at 3:15 P.M.
Okay. Where are we going exactly? Sent at 3:17 P.M.
A place to cheer you up. Sent at 3:19 P.M.
Um, okay. See you soon. Sent at 3:21 P.M.
See you. ;) Sent at 3:22 P.M.

The clock hand on the wall hits 7:55, and Mr. Everlast knocks on the door.
"Come in," I say not looking at the door.
"Ah, hello Emma. Is it just you? Where are his parents?" Mr. Everlast wears gray suit pants, white shirt with an open matching gray suit jacket, with a ruby red tie. His shoes are black and perfectly laced and shined.
"They're out of town. They went to L.A. for the semester." Mr. Everlast walks toward Gale's bed. I still stare at his attire.
"Poor boy" He pauses and turns towards me,"Right. Well, are you ready to go?" He walks in front of me offering a hand
"Where are we going Mr. Everlast?" I take his hand and get up.
"Like I said, a place that would cheer you up. And don't call me Mr. Everlast, tonight, and from here on, I am simply, James." He smiles as he says his name. His emerald eyes sparkle and shine and he grabs my hand and pulls me out of the room playfully. We run down the stairs to the exit. I see a shiny blue Ferrari parked out front. James opens the passenger door.
Woah, what a car.
"If you may." He says with a gesturing hand.
"Thank you." I walk and sit in the seat and he closes the door behind me."I didn't know you owned one of these."
"Hey teachers are not that poor." He closes his door and turns the keys. The engine roars to life. "Now, for the fun" he smiles and hits the gas. The car jerks forward at increasing speeds.
