Tonight I'll write the saddest line,
Though I don't know what it is,
It has to do with how I feel,
Or maybe what I wish.
Maybe it's about loneliness,
Or unrequited love,
Perhaps missed opportunities,
Or some sign from above.
It could have to do with pent up rage,
Or a life that's passed on by,
Profound feelings of emptiness,
Or never asking "why."
There are so many sad lines,
I don't know where I'd begin,
Maybe nostalgia for the good old days,
Or a life that's been lost to sin.
It might have to do with broken marriages,
Or strangers who used to be friends,
Or maybe simply an empty house,
A road that's reached its end.
I don't know what line I could possibly pick,
But I guess I'll just have to try,
I don't even know where i should start,
So I guess I'll start with goodbye.
