Within the 4 years
1.)Crimson...
A.) became a lot more powerful due to Ozpin sending in a lot of hunters and huntresses within the years and absorbed there power
B.) after 3 years (during our timeskip) her 'mom' stepped down to live her life with her lover in the beacon training grounds (her lover being the Raven Grimm in the training grounds that would have died by Ruby and co.) and so Crimson became the 2nd in command of the Grimm (Salem being the first obviously).
C.) made the emerald forest a hotspot for grim and made a underground city for them via malice pool as a gate way so no one can enter unless it is Grimm, Salem or crimson herself.
2.)Winter...
A.) became the military commander due to ironwood getting killed by crimson due to a order forced by Salem due to him 'posing a threat' to their future which crimson knew was BS but did it anyway to stay in Salem's favor for a while longer
B.) got 'disowned' by the SDC because her mother finally had enough her husbands crap and left with Winter (tho she left the male for him to become the heir of the SDC) to live in the military HQ where Ironwood and the aces lived (Marrow is a lone fighter now and goes to Atlas Academy while being winters right hand.. faunus.. I guess)
