"What is it now, brother?" Pastry Cookie demanded. She had been praying when her brother waltzed in, smug as ever. However, his smile seemed to dampen when he caught sight of her.

"I'm praying to the gods that actually recognize me, unlike you." Madeleine retorted. Ouch.  "Make way for your brother, the Divine Knight Commander- wait, what's my title again.. whatever, let's go with it- after all, you are simply a nun, whether you are my sister or not!" That stung... a little. However, they were both used to arguing and participating in complete insanity with each other. It was nostalgic in a way- but no, she shouldn't be thinking that. This was her idiotic brother.

"Hmph, well I will try speaking to the very Divine that 'ignore' me in your eyes! That will prove that I am just as relevant as you!" Pastry Cookie stated pridefully. Madeleine rolled his eyes.

"You can try." Pastry Cookie mumbled something like "fucking asshat" under her breath before kneeling down. She clasped her hands together in prayer.

Oh Divine, please speak to me, and prove to my brother that you see me as well.

She held her breath, waiting expectantly.

"See, what did I tell you?"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP AND WAIT, YOU IMPATIENT LITTLE SHIT!"

"Fine, fine, asshole. No need to act so uptight."

Divine, I apologize for cursing so violently, but this isn't just about proving my brother wrong.. it's proving to me that my worship is worthwhile. That I'm not useless.

And yet again, Pastry Cookie was disappointed. Madeleine began tapping his foot impatiently, the sound echoing around the cathedral, dressed in royal blue and gold. It used to be a constant reminder of him, but she finally stopped thinking about it years ago.

"Maybe today just isn't your day, sis. Leave it alone for a bit." Madeleine said, truly out of the good in his narcissistic heart. But then again, maybe he acted so selfish to make others ignore his past- what he was born as.

Or maybe he was an asshole. Either one works.

Pastry Cookie sighed and stood up.

"You may be right. May I ask a simple question?" Madeleine nodded in affirmation, his head tilted in confusion. "Why is it that you came here?"

"Surely the Knight Commander must respect the Divine as well as the sisters?"

"Of course, but what made you want to come here? Your headquarters and the Church aren't exactly close."

"Ah, I see what you meant. I simply had a question for those who allowed my creation. Nothing too much." Madeleine Cookie responded, confirming Pastry Cookie's thoughts.

"You know, I think the Divine created you the way you did so you could go on an adventure. Of self discovery." Madeleine looked taken aback, or at least that's what his sister assumed. "Naturally you would be confused. But I think this journey was meant for you. It wasn't a mistake, it wasn't to see if you would stick by some strict principles based in fiction. It was to see if you had the strength to change. To accept change. To welcome change." Madeleine smiled.

"Thank you, Pastry Cookie. That eases some worries I have had." He didn't add the fact that those 'worries' had been like swords, cutting deeper and deeper into him until he couldn't bear it. She didn't need to know. Even if they may have been friends in that particular moment, they still despised each other. Besides, Madeleine didn't need someone to tell him that.. right?

They both exited the Church. Pastry Cookie went to the park, to enjoy the daylight, so limited yet so precious. Meanwhile, Madeleine went to a certain cookie's lab, as he knew that said cookie needed something vital to his health..

But as they parted ways, they both thought the same thing.

Maybe we do have a chance.

Sup fuckers. Hit it off with a hurt/comfort chapter, but don't worry. They'll be at each other's throats soon. Wasn't a big chapter, I'm tired and just had an idea. I'm probably gonna end up posting this to ao3.
