The beginning

“ Louis wake up, you’re gonna be late!” my roommate michael  yelled up the stairs. I groaned and threw the blankets off me. I looked at the alarm clock and jumped up. I quickly got ready and rushed out the door. Only two more days left of school before summer came and i got out of the horrible place called college. Its not that i didn't like the idea of education,  just liked other things much more. Everyone says i should be appreciative that i got in on a scholarship, and i am but that doesn't make me thrilled about having more school.

The day went like it usually did. Everything felt so routine, i just wanted something different. Sure, in a couple years id be graduated, but what would i do after that? I worked at a bakery, but that can't last too long. What i really want to do is something with music, but not many people get a chance with that. Instead id probably stay in this small town and get some small job like most people.

After Classi ran into Michael. He said “ i can't believe schools gonna be over so soon, it seems like it just started.”

“Yeah i guess”

“ We should throw a party!” he suggested

“ thats what you say every year” i responded

This is what he usually suggests of course it never happens. We started walking home, he lived right next to me so  we usually walked home together.

“ Yes, thats because every year we should have a party”

“ Who would we even invite?”

“ we know plenty of people”

“Knowing and them liking us are two separate things” i said while rolling my eyes.

“ Whatever, its actually going to happen this year”

“Ok if you insist, but why don't you just wait until we graduate?”

“ Then everyone will have parties so who will come to mine?”

“ No one, but thats still not a change”

“ I'm gonna throw the most amazing party just wait and see”

“Fine but you're gonna have to find somewhere else to throw it” I said.

I really didn't want his annoying friends messing up our room. Its not like i was neat but that didn't mean other people could come in and make a mess.

“What thats so not fair” he exclaimed

“Its perfectly fair, its my apartment  too”

By then we’d arrived at our building so i ran up to start studying.

The next day at school was just finishing up finals before we all ran out to be free for the summer. On the last hour of the school day we were expected to all stand in a hot crowded oversized gym and socialize and sign yearbooks and stuff like that. Of course none of that actually appealed to me. I liked people but most of the ones at school were horrible. So it ended just having nice polite conversations with people i hate. By the end of the day i knew about 20 people who i didn't care about plans for summer.

As you can tell, i was thrilled when the last bell rang. I ran out the door into the fresh summer air far far away from that place, well that was the expectation in reality it ended up taking about half an hour to reach the door because they had the genius idea of stuffing everyone in the 11th grade into one room, and i happened to be at the back.

Michael actually did throw a party that year, and as his best friend i was expected to come, except parties didn't happen to be my thing unless they involved people i cared about. As previously mentioned i don't like being around a bunch of fake people whose main concern seems to be popularity and getting on the football team or dating the guy on the football team.

I didn't really have a main concern, i mostly just focused on what i need to do soon. I wanted to do things that made me happy now, I just did what i wanted to when i wanted to. I believed in doing things in the moment and just having fun. The thing is not planning for the future and not ever doing anything particularly exciting or life changing now don't mix well so you just end up having no idea whats happening next.

Of course since i am his best friend i was going to show up and not hide in the library or some other place., i was even going to help set up. i decided i had time to go to the library and study a bit before it started. Right as i was leaving my mother called.I couldnt just hang up. So instead I attempted to explain why now is the worst possible time because i'm trying to be a good friend and help out but she doesn't seem to understand that concept. Its not like she was trying to discuss anything of importance no just some stuff about my aunt Janice visiting. And by the time i escaped out the door the party had already started.

I walked in to see at least 100 people all crammed into our apartment. The music was way too loud and beyond that i didn't really know anyone. Nevertheless, I was nice to everyone. As I traveled through the crowds to find michael some people would stop me and try to start conversation. I can't just be rude and ignore them so there goes another 10 minutes.

Eventually i found him in a corner making an attempt to flirt with some girl. When he saw me he was so upset.

“At first you wouldn't even support me but when you finally admit youre wrong you don't even keep your promises”

I knew it was pointless to explain so i just stood there and let him yell at me. In the end i went over to Brittany, one of my other friends, apartment and planned to sit around and watch tv with her until midnight. I turned on one of my favorite channels and got up to get us a snack and some soda. From the tv i heard “ Do you love music but think you have no chance to make it big? Then you should audition for the X-Factor!”

Thats all i needed to hear before i rushed over. I grew up watching the X-Factor, and i always wanted to have a chance to be on it. In the last couple years i hadn't watched it, so i kinda forgot about auditioning, but this year i would do it. I jotted down the time and the place. When i realized it was only a couple days away, i began practicing.
