I sat on the rail, my legs dangled over the edge. I swung them to the beat, the bells on the end of my shoes clinking to the beat. I hummed along to the bells, my striped leggings and gloves red and green against the frosted glass panels. Instrumental carols played over the speakers. Mortals and mages bustled about in the mall below, existing happily side by side. Golden, crimson and emerald decorations hung about everywhere. The scent of cinnamon hung in the air, it wafted out of the bakery behind me. I saw other Elves darting around, getting into position.
Showtime.
I dropped off the rail, bouncing off the stall top and landing in front of the tree. I took a deep breath before piping up.
"Good morning, everyone!" I smiled, the charm feeding my words into everyone's brains.
The bells slowly distorted vefore fading out completely. A guitar on one end of the room, and drums on the opposite side, took over the rhythm.
"Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way!" I sang as danced around on the spot."Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh!" An Elf hopped over and joined me, singing along."Hey!" Elves threw their hands up in unison. Our fingertips glowed in unison, casting the Runes.
"Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way!" Elves sang as I was left alone on the spot by the tree."Oh what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!" I grabbed two green cannisters and opened them and tossed them in the air. The gasses inside turned into little dancing trees in the air. Kids cooed and grinned, bopping along."Dashing through the snow..." I joined in, grabbing two cannisters from my waist.
"In a one-horse open sleigh..." I tossed them up in the air. They exploded in a golden sparkle. Mortals admired.
"O'er the fields we go,
Laughing all the way..." Elves ran around, tossing cannisters into the air in unison as they danced through the crowds."Bells on bob-tails ring,
Making spirits bright..." The air crackled red, sparkling like glitter and happiness spread."What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight, oh!" I jumped as two Elves came from either side, sliding across the floor below me. They hopped up and danced with me."Join in!" I encouraged.
"Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way!" Elves and children alike were singing along. I clapped along to the beat."Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!" I sang as even the adults began clapping along."Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!" The trees morphed into the Santa carriage illusion as six Elves on my left posed like reindeer. They even used the mist to create antler illusions. A child pulled away from their father and stepped forward."Now the ground is white,
Go it while you're young...." I crouched, the guitar quietening and the drums silencing."Take the kids tonight,
Sing this sleighing song..." I sang softly as the kid walked over."Get a bobtailed bay,
Two forty for his speed..." I smiled as I formed a small present. The child watched in innocent delight."And hitch him to an open sleigh,
And you will take the lead!" I stood as they walked away with the present."Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way!" I resumed, the drums and guitar igniting once more."Oh! what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!" The Elves and I clapped in unison, activating the Runes."Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way!" I smiled as I watched the Haven Specialist Staff members in the crowd sleepily smile and doze off where they stood. Just as soon as they fell asleep, they were teleported away. The air around where they were shimmered purple."Oh! what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!" I sang along with the mortals who remained, unaware of how some of their fellows had vanished."Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh!" The whole building sang or clapped along, the air sparkling in merry joy. An Elf either side of me let loose little 'fireworks' to finish off. Applause exploded as the guitar and drums ceased."Thank you, and goodbye!" I announced as we Elves all bowed. We appeared to vanish as we slunk away. Cloaking charms really were the best, weren't they?
