SHAI P.O.V
There's a light knock and I grab my phone and purse. It's the signal Theo's ready for me to get in the car to drive to set. I walk quickly out the door to his car to find him.. and an unexpected guest. Ruth Kearney. I smile as fakely as I can before reaching the backseat and gagging.
They talk the whole ride, no one even acknowledges me. At every stop, they make out. I sit in the back quietly checking my Twitter. When we reach set, Ruth gets out along with Theo. I slam the car door and walk away. I definitely wasn't going to say thank you. Zoë can immediately tell I'm mad because I storm onto set. I explain the story and she balls her hands into fists. "Ugh, that little brat." I couldn't tell if she was talking about Theo or Ruth. "Ok, I'll talk to him later. About his girlfriend. Uh, what's her name? Roses?" Zoë asks. "Ruth." I stifle a laugh. "Ew. Ok anyway, Neil said he needs to talk to you about the filming. Meet him in his office." She says and walks away. As soon as I walk toward Neil's office, I hear a thick British accent calling my name. I roll my eyes and jog to Neil's office. I was NOT about to talk to him.
"Hi." I say when I reach Neil's office. He smiles warmly. "Hey Shai. Theo will be here in a minute, I just need to chat with you guys about Allegiant filming." I try to keep back a groan. Theo? Ugh. He bursts in moments later. "Hey." He says nodding toward both of us. He takes a seat beside me. My mouth turns into a grim smile. Neil doesn't notice. "Ok. So in Allegiant you two have some very steamy scenes. I was wondering when you'd like to shoot these?" Neil asks. I feel my face flush. "I'll give you two time to talk about it." And with that he ushers us out the door. "So-." "Figure it out by yourself." I hiss and walk away. Just as he starts to call after me, Ruth appears in front of me. "Aw, hello Shailene." "Ruth." I smile coldly. "Just so you know honey, Theo? He will never love you the way he loves me. And you two? No chances." She smiles fakely and walks away and she wraps her arms around Theo's neck and kisses him. I walk away, feeling deflated. I open the door to my trailer and lock it as soon as I was inside. I wasn't coming out until Neil called me.
After filming, I hitch a ride with Ansel. He asks me a million questions about what happened between Theo & I. I answer mildly to all questions, just a simple fight. Ansel rolls his eyes when we get to my hotel. "Thanks for the answers." He laughs. "Thanks for the questions. And the ride." I smile and bump his fist. I walk to the door of the hotel and push the gold bar. I walk briskly through the lobby to the elevator. I press the up button and wait. "Shai!" I turn to see Theo walking my way. I press the button quicker. It comes to a stop and the last thing I see before I step on and it closes, is Theo's face. Red. Upset. Tears forming in his eyes. I brush it off and run to my room.
I've been laying on my bed for over an hour. Tears have taken over my sight. "Why Theo?! Why do I have to love you?!" I yell. I bury my face in the cushiony pillow and cry harder. Someone knocks on my door. "Shai?" A weak voice says. Theo. My heart races. "Please let me talk to you. Let me in." My lower lip trembles. "No." I say as strong as I can manage before tears stream out again. "Shai, I have a key." I bury myself into my bed. He opens the door and makes a beeline to my room. "Shai, what's been wrong with you? Why won't you talk to me." I don't say anything. A sob escapes my mouth. Theo pulls me over so I'm facing him. "Shh. Shai please don't cry. It breaks me down to see you like this." His eyes burn my soul and I hiccup. My vision is watery. "Now tell me, what's wrong?" I cry harder. His brown eyes soften. I want to say it, I want to say everything that I feel about him. How i came to be in love with him, with his brown eyes and hair and British accent. The way he talks and is there for me, our bond. He's rubbing my cheek with his thumb now, whispering softly. "Shai please. I don't want to lose you." My body shakes and he pulls me close to him so I can feel his heartbeat. "You." I whisper. "What did I do?" He says softly. "Ruth. You two didn't talk to me the whole ride & then she told me you would never love me and I have no chances with you." I sob. I can feel Theo suck in a deep breath before pulling me to his chest. I rest my head on his shoulder and we sit in silence for a moment before he speaks. "She & I are over. I broke up with her about an hour ago." "Oh." I murmur. "Shai, look at me." He says. He turns my chin toward him and he speaks. "She's wrong. All wrong. Because I love you."
My heartbeat quickens. We stare at each other before Theo moves in. His lips find mine and we kiss in perfect sync. I break away and rest my forehead on his. "Will you be mine?" he whispers, kissing my forehead. "I dreamed of this." I smile.
