Nathaniel's POV

Being an Alpha was a good thing for me, the feeling of taking care of someone, specially the whole pack, was a huge responsibility. Of course, it was also very tiring and boring.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed going out with the pack and making sure they are all safe, but sometimes I just wanted to take a little break from that. After all, the Moon Valley pack were one of the strongests here, so what could go wrong?

With the full moon shining bright above us, many of the members started howling, their instincts kicking in as soon as they felt it, but I could control my instincts, so that's why I didn't shift that night. They would go for a run after that, and I honestly wasn't in the mood, as I was already too stressed to go out.

But I just let them be, as Chiara, the female Alpha of the pack, was with them howling and stuff.

I decided to take a walk somewhere else, as I obviously wouldn't get lost in my own woods. The cold breeze made me shiver a little, but I didn't mind, I simply wanted to leave.

"Where are you going, Alpha?" I heard one of the guys, who hadn't shifted yet, say. "I thought you'd be joining us tonight"

"I'm fine, I just want to patrol for some hours. Who knows, maybe some trash want to attack us or something" I lied. Of course I just wanted to breathe some fresh air for some minutes, and then I'd be back in no time. Luke didn't question me, he simply nodded and joined the others.

Letting out a sigh, I made sure no one was looking at me and started walking into the woods, making me feel relieved at every step I made. It was cold, of course, but I didn't really feel it. My eyes simply closed at the thought of everything that was happening right now, and everything that had happened to me, too.

Ever since my parents died and I had to take the lead, things have got weird among the pack, but I didn't think that was the reason. You see, the Moon Valley's didn't have an Omega or someone to take care of, unlike almost every other pack. There were only betas, and of course, I, the Alpha, and Chiara, the female Alpha, but that's it.

I guessed my parents death made us realize that, that we weren't a common pack, and that's probably why we were so bloodthirsty and cruel most of the times, because of how bored and pissed we were at being the way we were. It wasn't common at all, but an Omega was never born here.

That and also, the many other problems there are in any pack, so you could say I was more than stressed.

I was so into my own thinking, I didn't even hear light footsteps quickly coming to my direction. I instantly frowned, but couldn't do anything since it was already here and, when I was about to move, I felt something bump into me.

I was ready to kill whoever dared to annoy me and enter my territory without asking, prepared to merciless get rid of that thing already, when I heard it cry. I frowned and tilted my head, even if I could see in the dark, it was still different from having light, so I didn't understand at first.

I smelled the sweetest scent I had ever felt. It was weird, but nice, and something inside me told me she was a little Omega. I widened my eyes and quickly picked her up, how could anyone ever hurt an Omega?

"Hey, hey. Are you okay?" I asked her, but she didn't reply.

The little girl kept crying and I was starting to get worried about her. A feeling of anger and worry built up inside me at the thought of her being hurt by anyone or anything, and I couldn't even do anything about it. The Omega rubbed her eyes with her tiny fists until she finally calmed down a little.

"There you go, little one. Does it hurt anywhere?"

"No" was all she said to me. I guess she wasn't much of a talker that night, I should probably take her back to were she belonged, although I wasn't sure that was a good idea. "Charles"
