My alarm went off and I flew upright, looking around nervously. I was sweaty from the nightmares I had last night.
It was like everything that happened yesterday kept playing over and over again. Should I go to school? I dont see why not...
But I dont wanna walk alone again...
Mom ran in not long after I turned off my alarm. "Are you ok honey?"
I nodded and blinked several times before looking up at her. Her face was full of worry so I gave her a smile and said, "yeah I'm ok. I promise." I smiled big.
It was a lie, but I didnt want to worry her too much.
"Well I talked to Itachi's father this morning, he said Itachi wants to come check on you. Is that ok?" She asked softly.
I thought on it. It lined up with me not wanting to be alone, AND I'll be with the person who saved me. I should thank him...
"Uh.. yeah that's perfectly fine actually. When is he supposed to be here?"
A knock was heard at the door, and mom went to see who it was, leaving me in my room alone.
I heard muffled speech, and then moms shrill voice, "Oh Itachi!... Yes, Mira is in her room!... Alright I'll go grab her for you!"
I frantically brushed my hair so it wasnt frizzy. Mom walked in again, a big smile on her face and pointed out to the living room.
"He's here!" She said in a sing song voice.
I sighed and stood up from my bed, cautiously following my mother out to see the boy.
We turned the corner and my eyes met his. As soon as he spotted me, his eyes lit up and there was a faint smile that brushed his lips.
"Good morning Mira, how are you feeling today? Better I hope..." he chirped happily.
I gave him a sort of crooked smile and stepped closer to him, staying maybe a foot away.
I dont know if it was just in my head, but I thought I saw him blush.
He shifted on his feet and looked me in the eyes, "I wanted to make sure you were alright after what happened yesterday..."
I shifted nervously and frowned, "I'm doing alright I suppose..."
Itachi put a hand on the back of his neck and looked at his feet, "yeah sorry... it was stupid to ask... I just wanted to check up on you."
He started to head toward the door, but I slipped my hand into his and grabbed him. "Wait please..." I whined.
He turned to me, his face started to turn red and he swallowed hard.
"Uh... wanna walk to the academy together?..." I asked, peering up at him through my hair.
A small smile crept onto his face and he nodded. "Of course!"
I looked down at myself. I looked like a bum, still in my pajamas. "Uhh... give me a minute to change. Dont leave without me please!"
Itachi let out a haughty chuckle and nodded, "yeah go get dressed and then we'll go."
I rushed to go change, put on a white tshirt, black cargo pants, and boots, tied my hair up in a ponytail and grabbed my bag. I checked in the mirror to make sure none of the bruises from yesterday were visible.
They werent.
I walked out and looked at Itachi, his mouth was slightly agape and he was staring at me.
I cleared my throat and he snapped out of it and looked at me, regaining his composure.
"Ahem... you ready to go Mira?" He asked softly.
I chuckled and nodded, "yeah let's go."
He held open the door for me and nodded to my mother as we walked out. I think she gave him a thumbs up but I couldnt tell.
For a minute the walk was awkwardly silent, and I didnt know how to react or bring up a conversation.
He cleared his throat and stepped closer to me. He hadn't said anything but as we walked, the back of his hand brushed against mine softly.
I looked up at him and he gave me a nervous look in return. His face was red and he kept gnawing on his lower lip.
"Stop doing that or I'm gonna bite it."
His head whipped to me, a shocked expression written on his face. "Wait what?!"
My face got hot and I covered my mouth. WHY DID I SAY THAT!
He chortled and wrapped an arm around my waist.
"So... I-Itachi..."
He took a deep inhale at that and gave me a weird look from the side, "yes Mira?"
"Uhm... thank you... for helping me yesterday... you could have walked away, but you didnt... so... thank you..."
He sighed and pulled me into a hug, "you dont have to thank me... I just... I didnt want to see you hurt..."
I nodded and inhaled his scent, he smelled sweet, like cinnamon and lavender. He turned my head up slightly and my forehead was met with his soft lips.
I blushed and touched my head, "what was that for?..."
"I... I just wanted to kiss you... but I dont wanna scare you by... kissing you on the lips so... i... kissed your forehead..." he stammered over his words, which I found adorable.
I smiled softly and grabbed the front of his shirt, locking my lips with his. They were soft and warm... it was nice..
His eyes widened and then closed, as he wrapped his arms around me tightly, but not to tight to hurt me.
I pulled away and looked up at him with a red face, "t-thank you, Itachi. I mean it..." I murmured, a little out of breath.
He chuckled and leaned his head against mine. "I'll always be here for you Mira..."
"I'll never leave your side."
