Upon learning that the Ten Rings were now wielded by the son of its former owner, the leaders of Ta-Lo established a plan to ensure that they were finally in the right hands. The village leaders' weariness towards Xu Shang-Chi was not something that stemmed from distrust, but instead, of fear; fear of the possibility that he would not be immune to the Rings' immense power and call to temptation.

Beyond the plains of Ta-Lo, high above their coldest mountains, lived a smaller community, known to be in charge of supplying their dragon-scaled weapons and armory. The residents of Tiějiàng, also known as the Swordsmith Village, were called upon by the elders, and asked to bring their finest warrior forward. Among these snowy lands lived a famed swordsman, who was renowned - not only for his inhuman sword-wielding skills, but also - for the fact that he bore a very special gift.

He was born with the heart of The Great Protector. A fragment of the mighty god-like dragon coursed through his veins... for reasons unknown. Rumor had it that the dragon's soul had been bestowed upon him as a child. Regardless of what his true origins may be, one thing was certain: if there was anyone fit for the role of guiding Shang-Chi towards a more rightful path, no one would be more eligible than Qiang Jin.

Qiang Jin is a fine swordsman, and a fierce warrior. The weapon which he wields, (The Dragon's Bane,) bears somewhat of a curse, trapping the souls of whomever he slays within it. It was bestowed upon him as a child, by a mysterious woman who resided beneath his village's frozen lake. Its blade is made of the Great Protector's fang, making it tougher, stronger, and more dangerous than weapons crafted with scales.

However, the only threatening aspect to Qiang Jin was the fact that no one has ever fought him and lived. Outside of fights and brutal combat, he carries a sense of wonder and curiosity towards everything in the world. When there is no need for him to draw his sword, he turns into a completely different person; one with eyes that shine with innocence and care, exuding an aura of sheer gentleness regardless of where he went.

Like the never-ending snow that falls upon the icy paths of Tiějiàng, Jin is both constant and unpredictable. Rumor has it that it's not actually him when he fights. People believe that it's the ghosts of warriors from the past using his body as a vessel to defend and protect those who need it most. If you are not a threat to him or his people, he will be ready and available to offer you any sort of assistance. While his hands may not be clean from the blood of those he has killed, ultimately, his heart is pure. His relentless kindness and willingness to be of service are more of the rumored reasons as to why he was given the Protector's gift.
