Steve made us spaghetti for dinner, in the past year he has learned to cook all my favorites. He wanted to learn once we found out I was pregnant.
"I want my wife to relax and enjoy herself while I cook her dinner" he told me after the doctor's appointment to confirm my pregnancy.
"Steve, when is Christmas?" I asked watching him cook, that sight never got old. Loved watching my man work his way around the kitchen.
"A little over a month away love, next week is Thanksgiving" he said and then I heard a groan come from the kitchen. I knew what that meant.
"Yes Steve, you have to invite your aunt to have dinner with us" I said laughing. "If not, we will never hear the end of it" I said looking over at his reaction.
Steve stood there with his eyes closed and rubbing his forehead. "Fine" he said as he went back to dishing up our plates.
Steve always acted like he did not care, but he did love his aunt, but when he gets under a lot of pressure at work, he was gruffer around the edges with her.
Those two are two peas in a pod. Both stubborn to a fault, but when the moment counted, they were there for each other.
The week flew by, Steve took the week off to buy the groceries, clean the house and help me get everything set for the next morning, since it was now Thanksgiving.
One month away before our daughter is born, I was excited and scared at the same time. I just hoped she was healthy, and the delivery went smooth. Well as best as it could.
I woke up to the usual, with Tipsy kissing my nose, waking me up to go outside to go potty. "I just wish for once you would let Steve take you out girl" I said scratching her chin.
She sat there ignoring what I had to say but enjoying the loves she was getting.
Once we were downstairs, I opened the door, hooked her up to the leash and she took off to the first bare spot and went potty.
"Morning love" Steve said coming up behind me handing me a cup of tea. "Thank you love" I said stifling a yawn, he wrapped his arms around me while I waited for Tipsy to finish her business.
"I don't know why you wait on that dog" Steve said shaking his head as he went back to the kitchen. "With all the snow out there, she would get lost" I said as I unhooked Tipsy from her leash and shut the front door.
I could see Steve wanted to make a comment but decided he was not going to, which was in his best interest.
Tipsy went to her little bed by the fireplace, and I went into the kitchen to see what was going on.
"Is the turkey already in the oven?" I asked sitting down at the kitchen table, "turkeys in the oven, the potatoes are peeled, and, in the water, the salad is all chopped and set aside in the fridge, just have to make the gravy and the rolls once the turkey is out."
"I could have helped you" I said looking at him, he smiled and walked over to where I was sitting, "I know you could have but this thanksgiving I wanted to take care of you and our little one" he said and kissed the top of my head.
The rest of the day I sat on the couch watching old classic movies, while the snow decided to come down slowly but not too bad.
