Okay guys I was trying to keep this as close to the original as possible but 15 year old me was too crazy and things were all over the place so I just couldn't keep it like that I'm sorry T_T this is still pretty close to what it used to be but yeah it's not gonna be all the same.

Also sorry it's like a month later than I wanted to publish it but aye at least it's not a year late like I kept doing for the old book lmao

You woke up the next day with only one thought on your mind: getting to the Lucky Cat Café. You had spent ten years running, scared of the possibility of being loved. Of having something permanent.

It was time for that to change.

You stretched and sat up. You dressed in the last of your clean clothes, then made your way down the stairs to the sidewalk. Ash followed beside you as you walked the path through the park, making your way to the café.

You still remembered where it was, of course. After that first night when you had met the boys and Aunt Cass, you found yourself coming over here a few different times, just to stare at the building and wonder what would happen if you finally got the courage to walk through the doors.

Now you wouldn't have to wonder anymore.

Once you were just outside the building, you glanced inside through the window. It looked cozy and welcoming, drawing you inside. You pushed down the anxiety in your chest and told Ash to stay put.

A small bell rang as you walked through the door.

The inside of the café was warm. Sunlight streamed through the windows, shining on the booths lining the walls. There were a few people sitting; some were alone with their books or laptops, others in pairs or groups. You hadn't remembered much of the atmosphere from the brief couple of hours you had spent here years ago, but you did remember that it was homey and welcoming. It hadn't changed in that aspect.

You looked up, where a giant chalk menu was displayed on the wall above the counter. You absently read the names of the different drinks and pastries, not really taking them in as your mind was preoccupied thinking about what you should do now.

You hadn't really thought about what you would do after you came inside. Should you ask to talk to Aunt Cass? Hiro and Tadashi? Should you just sit down and wait for one of them to notice you?

You didn't have time to come up with an answer.

"Y/n!" Hiro sounded surprised to see you.

You looked away from the menu and at the boy walking towards you. "Hiro, hi-- I just wanted to, uh, stop by and--" you stopped yourself from saying that you just wanted to say hello. You glanced back towards Ash, who was still sitting obediently outside. "Actually, sorry, I was just wondering-- when you guys said to come by if I needed anything... is that offer still open?"

Hiro blinked. He clearly hadn't been expecting that, but he answered quickly. "Yeah, of course. What do you need?"

"It's... kind of a lot to explain."

"In that case, do you want to come upstairs? I can tell Aunt Cass you're here."

~

You told Aunt Cass everything. You told her about growing up an orphan. You told her you had been adopted into an abusive household. You told her how you ran away from there, and how that's what you had really been doing the night they all first met you. You told her about how you had been living on your own in that abandoned apartment for almost ten years.

The only thing you left out was Rachels' name. You didn't want Aunt Cass to try to find this woman or report her to the police-- you didn't want them all over your life. You just wanted to get away from everything like that.
