They say the worst pain in the world is heartache. The way it makes you feel sick, and sometimes even makes you feel like you might die. You stop eating, you stop taking care of yourself, and you let the pain consume you. Then the pain becomes a source of feeling because you've become so detached from every other emotion, that you turn numb. Your hurt goes cold, and you just stop caring. It's then that you choose unhealthy habits to cope with. Some choose alcohol, others choose drugs, some choose more self-destructive things.

But I can promise you, heartache is not the worst pain you will feel. No. The worst thing to ever feel is grieving someone who isn't dead, to grieve the person who constantly chooses to destroy you, and yet you go running back to them the minute they call.
To grieve them like they are dead as you watch them constantly choose everyone over you when they know you have stood by their side through thick and thin.

This is how it has been for me for the last 4 years. Jung Hoseok was all I had ever known for the last four years after moving to Seoul from Busan. I met him through a mutual friend we have. When our eyes met for the first time, it was already over for me. There was no stopping me from diving instantly into the water without thinking about what I should be doing.
He was my first everything. And after the first year of knowing one another, we decided to move in together.
Outwardly, we appeared to be the typical couple, but there was a catch to Jung Hoseok. He doesn't date. He doesn't call you his girlfriend, and he refuses to share his feelings. He will sleep with you and be your friend, and then move on to the next. He made this very clear at the start of, well whatever you want to call our relationship. But I still agreed against my better judgment. And I had hoped when we moved in together things would change, but they never did. And so for four years, I let the torture consume me, every day falling deeper and deeper into my feelings for him, while he chooses anyone else but me.

I thought that's how it always would be for the rest of my life. There was no one else I was going to try for. Even if he eventually moved on to something serious, and eventually settled down and married someone other than me, I knew it was never going to be anyone else for me.
That is until I met Park Jimin.....

"Yea Mom, I am here. Sorry, It's just been a long day." JiHye says through a sigh as she fishes for her keys in her pockets.
"It can't be that hard to work in a coffee shop." her mother teased her playfully.
"You have no idea mother. I honestly can't stand it. I might find a different job." she continues on as she successfully manages to get the door unlocked and walk into the apartment. The aroma of freshly cooked food perfumes her nostrils as she inhales happily as she slips her shoes off by the door and continues to walk down the foyer and into the dining room, catching eye of Hobi standing there scrolling through his phone contently while he ate.
"Welcome home." he looks up to greet her with a smile. "I've set your food on the table here already, so if you are hungry...." he motions towards the spot in front of him.
"Is that the boyfriend?" JiHye's mother questions curiously, and she could hear the smirk in her mother's voice.
"Okay Hobi, give me a few to change from work and get off the phone with mom and I will be right there."
"Hurry before it gets cold," he says sternly but with a smile.
She nods and walks by him quickly to her bedroom. "Mom, he's not my boyfriend, how many times have I told you that. He's just a good friend."
"A male friend, that you live with, but you are not dating anyone else?" her mom retorts.
"Mother please, not today," JiHye begs as she lays back on her bed. "Hoseok will never be anything of the serious nature." she sighs out.
"Yet you hold out for the day he will..."
"Okay mom, I am gonna go now. If I don't go eat, he will scold me for missing my meal." she giggles.
"Alright JiHye, please come visit soon. I miss you terribly."
"I will mom, I promise. I love you. Bye."
She ends the call quickly as she looks up to the ceiling and sighs out in an overdramatic tone as she sits up and walks over to her closet, grabbing a simple black hoodie and a pair of shorts from her drawers.
After changing and being content with her wardrobe, she sighs another heavy sigh and makes her way back to the kitchen and sits down in front of Hobi, and begins to eat quietly.
"How was your day?" he asks curiously, sitting his phone down beside him and looking over to her. When their eyes met, JiHye felt a shiver course through her body. His hair fell perfectly into his face, his facial expression still stern but soft at the same time, a small smile started to form from the corner of his mouth and it instantly made JiHye melt on the inside. But he knew what he was doing to her. He knew she couldn't resist his charms. And he did it on purpose. Every time.
"Uh, it was okay," she says quickly looking away from his eyes. "Just a lot of rude teenagers came in at shift change, and it kinda worked up my nerves," she says taking a bite of her food.
"Hmm...." he says lowly as he puts down his chopsticks and leans his chin into his hands. "Want me to work that out for you? It's been a while since I have felt you from the inside," he smirks.
JiHye nearly choked on her food as she started to cough and looked up to Hobi, who was just watching her with a victorious grin, knowing he got under her skin. She took a sip of her water and fanned her face that was now 20 shades of red. He chuckles and shakes his head. "Sorry. It was merely a suggestion. I have to get going anyways." he says as he stands and walks over to her kissing her forehead lightly. "If you will clean for me, I will bring you back a treat. I'll cuddle with you tonight too." he smiles down at her.
"Don't you get tired of doing this, Hobi?" JiHye says through a frustrated sigh. Trying to ignore the excitement she had about cuddling with him after a few nights of him sleeping in his own room, and the butterflies she felt when he kissed her forehead.
"Of what?" he asks stepping back slightly confused.
"Doing this. Leaving for others, but treating me like I am your girlfriend behind closed doors."
"Are you tired of it?" he throws the question back to her.
"Yea." she simply says as she stands up.
"The door is there JiHye, no one is forcing you to stay," Hobi says with a shrug as he turns away from her. "I warned you when you first kissed me that I don't do the relationship thing."
"So my feelings are only one-sided?"
He doesn't answer this question but keeps his back turned to her as he leans into his hands onto the counter. He let out a heavy sigh but still refused to turn to her or face her.
"Fine. Have fun doing whatever it is you are doing. Just don't bring her back here, ok?" and with that, she grabs her coat and bag that she had hung up by the door.
"JiHye, don't be like this..." he says finally turning to see she was putting her shoes on. "Where are you going?"
"What do you care? Don't you have someone waiting?"
It was then that Hobi sprinted over to her and grabbed her arm pulling her to him slightly, making her stop in her tracks.
"Stop trying to mess up what we have," he says through gritted teeth looking down at her.
"Which would be?" she says looking up to his eyes. His facial expression seemed angry, but his eyes told a different story. They were sad and worried. It looked like he had more to say to her, but he let go of her arm and accepted the defeat of not telling her what was on his mind, or in his heart.
"That's what I thought," she said slinging her bag over her arm and walking out of the apartment. As soon as the door slammed and the adrenaline slowed down, she felt her tears threatening to break at the surface of her eyes, and she wanted more than anything to turn back around and go back to his arms, but she took a deep breath instead and continued to walk down the hallway.
She took the stairs down instead of the elevator. It would be quicker to burn off the steam of the anger she felt if she ran down the 3 flights of stairs instead.
As she reached the bottom of the stairs she looked up in time to see her and Hobi's friend, Yoongi, walking in with another male she had never seen before. Their eyes met instantly as she smiled and held her arms out for Yoongi, not looking away from the other guy. "Hi Yoon, it's been a while since I have seen you!" JiHye says excitedly as Yoongi hugs her tightly and then twirls her around once.
"We were just headed up to see Hobi, where are you off to?" Yoongi asks curiously.
JiHye couldn't help but keep her eyes on the other man, his smirk he had as he looked her up down, the way his eyes pulled her into him, his blonde hair falling perfectly to his face, shaping it nicely.
She tried to break herself from her trance as she heard Yoongi talking, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.
"Oh god, I have been down this road before." she thinks to herself. "I can't fall for another one." she blinks as she turns her attention to Yoongi, who was looking between her and the other man now with a knowing smirk.
"His name is Park Jimin," Yoongi says nudging Jimin's side. It seems Jimin too was bringing himself out of a trance as his cheeks grew a shade of pink and he bowed respectfully and held out his hand for hers.
"Sorry, I am Park Jimin," he says through a nervous chuckle.
"It's nice to meet you Jimin, I am Lee JiHye," she says with a smile, bowing quickly and then taking his hand. As they shook hands, she noticed he squeezed her hand a little tighter than a normal greeting, and as he pulled his hand away he drug his fingertips lightly against hers, sending a shock of electricity throughout her whole body.
"Pleasure is all mine, JiHye." he smiles. "So you live with Hoseok?"
"Mhm for about four years now. Yoongi used to visit regularly, but this is the first time in nearly what, a year I have seen you?"
"Yea yea yea, sorry, work has kept me busy. Anyways, why were you storming off like that? Did you guys fight?" Yoongi asks shifting the conversation to a different subject.
"I really don't want to talk about it. It's Hoseok." she sighs as she rolls her eyes.
"Are you two dating?" Jimin asks curiously, the slight tone of hope hidden behind the question.
"Hoseok? Dating?" Yoongi says turning back to Jimin and letting out a scoff. "Come on now, you know he doesn't date. He fucks around and breaks hearts."
Her expression fell instantly hearing even Yoongi saying it aloud, everyone knew this was the way with Hobi. Yet she was still stupid enough to continue hoping he would one day change his mind. She knew her facial expression would give away her feelings, and it seemed Jimin picked up on it instantly. He sighed as he rolled his eyes and looked over to Yoongi.
"I just figured with a pretty girl hanging about, he would have least tried to pursue her. You mean to tell me you've lived with Hobi for four years and he hasn't changed a bit?" Jimin asks, folding his arms across his chest.
"Just as Yoongi said, he fucks around and breaks hearts. But anyway, he's upstairs you two go on up, I'll be back later," she says sliding between the two of them and moving towards the door. "It was nice meeting you Jimin." she smiles over at him.
"Likewise." he returns her smile and watches her turn and walk out of the apartment building.
