Ouch.
Pretty much every morning since I could remember I have been awoken by a blaring alarm that subsequently made me jolt awake. It's the only successful method i've found in trying to get up, but it was now a comforting thought knowing I wouldn't be waking up here for a few weeks. Finally.
In exactly 8 hours from now, I will be on my first ever plane ride. At age 18, you would think it wouldn't be so exciting but this plane ride was taking me on my first ever real adventure.
Like most boring, mediocre towns, summer was not very exciting. A few occasional two-hour drives to the beach, late-night ice cream runs, and visiting the local target was about it. Most of the time I sit in bed longing for some excitement. Adventure was essentially a nonexistent word in my vocabulary, but I am finally planning to change that this summer.

It was currently 9:52 pm on a Tuesday night in February and, like usual, I was on facetime with my two best friends, Aspen and Skylar. Usually, we just hang out at someone's house since we all live approximately 5 minutes from each other, but my mom is more strict about going out on the weekdays.
"Ugh I'm so bored," Aspen said sighing heavily.
I agree and the three of us discuss what homework we have to do for the rest of the week. School is so tiring. I wish summer would get here faster. At least it won't feel below freezing every day then.
"Oh, you guys won't believe what my mom said to me the other day," I replied excited to tell them the hilarious news.
"What?" Skylar said, paying closer attention.
"She basically suggested I should go with Skylar to Italy this summer. Wouldn't it be so fun if we all went together?" I say laughing and not really being serious.
"Wait yeah, I think we should actually do it, maybe as an after-graduation/summer trip?" Skylar replies.
"Same, I think it would be fun," Aspen mentions.
"Wait, are you both being serious? I meant it as a joke" I said letting out a chuckle.
"I'm totally serious, I am already planning on going with my mom so we could stay with her or my grandparents and visit a bunch of different cities on our own, you just have to convince your parents," Skylar replies.
"Ugh that's going to be very difficult, but I'll try," I say, not actually believing my parents would agree.
"Yes, I'm totally down if my mom lets me" Aspen adds.
After talking about Italy some more, we all hang up and I walk downstairs to say goodnight to my mom.
"Guess what Mom," I say.
