Story 1

Title: Breaking The Illusion (Setup)
Group: Monster Gang
Characters: Wade, Ashley
TW: Injuries

The Illusionist has taken down one of the strongest members of the Monster Gang, Terra the astral guardian. During the battle, she was severely wounded. This triggered something inside of Wade to begin training to resharpen his magic skills.

"This just isn't right, we shouldn't be sitting around like this!" Wade spoke loudly as he paced around. It was out of character for him to be upset. Mandy and Ashley were tending to Terra's wounds.

"Look if this guy can take out Terra, what makes you think any of us can take him on right now. You have to think about this Wade." Mandy spoke as she turned to watch him pace. Wade's mind was racing he was feeling every emotion he hated. He couldn't stand looking at his friends hurt. He left the room to escape his frustrations. Wade made a decision he thought he'd never had to make. He was going to retrain himself in magic just like he had before he became a famous internet celebrity.

"I will get stronger for Terra, for all of us," Wade said as he pulled several books from his shelf and pulled out a dusty staff from under his bed. A long silence was met when he pulled it out.

"This isn't how I wanted to bring you back. But I need to do this." He said as he opened the first book.

A couple of weeks had passed and no one had seen or heard from Wade and he wasn't active on his socials making everyone worried. Ashley went over to investigate and what she saw was alarming even by her standards. When she arrived at his house there was smoke coming from his backyard. She rushed to the back to see what was going on. Wade was casting lightning spells and fireballs from his staff. He looked exhausted but was still going not even noticing Ashley standing there. She threw a nearby rock at him to grab his attention.

"W...What do you want? Can't you see I'm busy?" Wade panted as he used his staff to hold his tired body up. Ashley's usually expressionless face had been replaced by a look of concern.

"Everyone's been looking for you. What have you been doing this whole time Wade?" She walked up to him as she spoke. Before he could answer he collapsed into her arms letting out a tired groan. She threw him over her shoulder and took him inside.

"You're a fool you know that...?" Wade heard a voice say as he woke up to a wet towel being gently rubbed on his face. "But I'll hand it to you, Wade you are extremely dedicated in everything you do. I'm only saying this because I know you won't hear." The voice continued.

He slowly started to sit up, looking over in the direction of the voice it was Ashely. She suddenly crossed her arms her face looking a little flushed. "Why did you help me? I thought you hated me?" Wade asked in a weak voice.

"Well, you fell into my arms princess, I couldn't just leave you there. You're not going to be able to take him out yourself." She huffed in a harsh tone. Wade sat up fully listening to her usual ridicule. "But, if you keep up whatever you were doing you may be able to be a useful asset to take him down." She continued, looking out the nearby window.

"We all have to get stronger...somehow."
