Blake woke up in an alleyway, rubbing his head. He couldn't remember how he got there, only a little before. A memory flashed before him. Blake was standing in front of Hades.

"...Look, you aren't supposed to be here this soon and I got too many souls to deal with. Let's make a deal, I send you back to the mortal world however you need to help prevent more early souls from coming down here." Hades said as he turned to guide souls giving Blake time to think.

"I'll do it but how can I? I don't have any powers. I'm just human." Blake agreed, hardly thinking about the details, he only wanted to go back to see if his family was okay.

"No worries, I'll give you some temporary powers. If you can't do it, I can just take them away and find someone else. So it's a deal." Hades spoke, a slightly annoyed tone in his voice. He turned around to shake Blake's hand. Blake blacked out as soon as his hand was grabbed.

Blake stood up and dusted himself off, exiting the alley way he looked around to see if he recognized where he was. The street was empty, the roads barren. It felt like an abandoned block, Blake began walking down the street. It reminded him of the old construction sites he would play at. He shook his head and continued on, only to be stopped again by the sound of a scream nearby. He ran in the direction, another scream echoed through the empty street. The origin of the scream was a partially destroyed building, going inside Blake was filled with fear.

I have to be brave, so I can see them again. He thought to himself as he searched through the building. He found the person who was screaming, they were confronted by a creature. It looked like a rabid dog but it had a dark aura around it. Blake threw a rock at it to grab it's attention.

"Hey b...bone breath! Why don't you pick on someone your own size or smaller in this case." His voice quivered but he remembered his deal, he had to save this guy no matter what. The dog creature charged at him, bearing it's sharp teeth. Blake covered himself bracing for impact. He felt something pass through him, once he turned he saw the creature was behind him. Impressed by his new ability, Blake's confidence was boosted. He threw another rock and waited for the charge. He had a plan, once the creature charged he let it pass through. It hit a weak spot on an adjacent wall, causing it to crumble and crush the creature. This caused the rest of the building to begin to cave. Blake ran over to the guy and helped him escape before they were both crushed.

The two boys made it out unscathed, the guy looked at Blake. "That was really something back there kid you send that dog to the pound!" The guy let out a chuckle at his own pun. Blake couldn't help but chuckle too.

"I didn't even know I could do that, are you alright?" He asked as he was getting ready to leave to find his parents.

"Um I guess-" Before the guy could finish Blake began walking away. He followed behind. "Hey where you goin'? Don't tell me you're ghosting me." Blake stopped to let him catch up.

"I am trying to find my family, you won't believe me if I told you anything about what happened." The two began walking again, the guy just listened as Blake retold his story about the deal and his family. They kept talking for hours until it became dark. "Well, here's my house. It was nice meeting you uh..."

"Noah, it's Noah. It was cool for you to save me. I guess I'll bounce too. See ya pal." Noah turned, his smile faded he didn't have the heart to tell him about his situation. How his family abandoned him for not understanding how his own power worked.

Blake looked in the garage, the car was gone. Confused, he grabbed the spare key from under the mat. He yelled for his parents but there was no response. The house was completely devoid of life. His eyes filled with tears, wanting to avoid his thoughts. He ran from the house, running back to the direction Noah turned.

Noah was still walking until he stopped, Blake hugged him, he knew something was wrong when he felt his back become wet. It made him tear up a little. "Don't leave...I don't have anyone else." Blake spoke in a muffled voice. Noah pulled Blake off and turned around to give a proper hug.

"You know, I forgot to tell you. I don't have anyone else either kid. Looks like it's just you and me against to world. What do ya say? Brother?" Noah spoke in a reassuring voice, holding back his own tears as he hugged Blake.

Blake cried harder before calming down enough to look Noah in the eyes.

"Brothers forever..."
