John stared at the clock. It was ticking slow as ever. He watched as the second hand slowly moved its way around the clock face. Next thing he knew, his phone began ringing. Finally! A customer!
"Hello?"
"Hello there! This is Pawsome Pads, where you bark and we embark! On delivery that is. How may I help you?"
"Yeah, listen. I'm gonna cut to the chase. I'm not calling to buy paper. I need a favor."
"Who is this-"
"That's not important. What's important right now is that you listen to me. I know your secret."
"What's my secret exactly?"
"I know what you did to your wife."
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb with me. Anyway, I know where your daughter's school is located, I know what time she gets released from school, I know where her ballet lesson is, I know everything about the two of you."John froze.
"What? How did you-"
"Listen, unless you pack your things and come to this location right now, I suggest you start saying goodbye to that precious little girl of yours."
"What address?"Almost as if on cue, John's phone buzzed. He picked it up and checked it, and on his lock screen appeared a message with an address on it. John put these address in his maps app. It was a warehouse in the middle of nowhere.
"A warehouse? Really? Kind of cliche if you ask me. If you want to kidnap me at least be creative about it."
"If you want to come out of this alive, I suggest you stop talking now."
John immediately stopped laughing, and closed his lips.
"You have until 12 pm to get here. I would suggest hurrying if I were you."
John immediately wrote his boss a note saying his daughter was in trouble. He then grabbed his things and bolted towards the door. He didn't stop running until he made it to his car. Once he made it to his car, he immediately pulled up directions to the address and took off at the highest speed allowed without a ticket.
11:50 am
Traffic. Of course. "Can these roads be unblocked literally for once in my life?"As John began his waiting, he grew more and more anxious by the minute.
Should I call them? Text them maybe?
John placed a call, and let it ring. Not even 5 seconds into ringing, a voice was heard saying this number was a one way line, and calls could not be received.
Crap. What if I'm late? What am I supposed to do? I have to keep her safe.
Finally, traffic began moving. John went as quickly as possible to the address he was sent. When he pulled in, the sign read Rumor Hill Groves.
Pretty fancy, huh.
Just then, John received a text that read, "The code is 8467880907."
John pulled forward and entered 'The Grove'. He continued driving until he was in the middle of nowhere. His GPS said he was almost to his destination. As fear began to set in, John wondered if his daughter was okay.
11:59 am
John pulled into the driveway with one minute left to spare. John ran as fast as he could into the warehouse.
As John entered the warehouse cautiously, what he was met with made his face wrinkle. He was immediately hit by the stench coming from the room he had just entered.
"GRAB HIM!"
Immediately John was met by the force of 2 large great danes. They grabbed his arms and brought him over to a metal chair. They then began to tie his wrists with duct tape. The next thing he knew, a large crowbar was making its way towards John's face.
Before he could react, the crowbar made contact with his head, followed by a loud crack. Suddenly, everything went black.
2:30 pm
Roseanna stood, waiting for her father to pick her up for ballet. She began to lose hope that he may have forgotten her again. She thought about walking, but she remembered what her father had told her about the dangerous alleyways surrounding her school. "You are to stay away from them at all costs. Do you understand me? Those alleys are very dangerous." She could hear her father's voice echo in her head. Ugh fine, she thought.
Roseanna took a seat on one of the school benches outside. She then began contemplating how she was going to make it to ballet. Roseanna glanced to her left, and noticed a large great dane coming her way. Next thing she knew, she had been shoved into a limo with a bag over her head. "LET ME GO" She screamed.
No response.
The car began moving, and she began her journey to a new place she had never been before. She began to relax, unaware of the steady flow of gas filling up the man's car.
As the driver pulled on a gas mask, Roseanna began to get more and more feint.
