Dear Kenji
I'm sad to hear of your weather. I suppose you have been given good luck on the fact that your crops are still alive. We have been cursed with cold air but fortunately it has not rained constantly. Unfortunately we can not say the same for our livestock.
A disease his spread through our cattle and sheep. They develop cloudy eyes and their coat sheds rapidly and due to the cold air they freeze. If they are not killed by the cold, they soon lose their appetite on food.
You will be pleased to hear that I will be able to visit this Christmas. Is the little inn you spoke about still open? I think staying there would be a good place to stay for a few days.
I hope the circus was a pleasant experience and I hope in your next letter you will tell me all about it. I've never been to see one but I do hope that I can see one soon.
You must give my congratulations to Yosano. It has been a long journey for her and I hope she will be able to pursue her calling further.
Alas I'm still looking for a calling for my own however Koyoka is returning from boarding school for Christmas in a few days. I'm already preparing her room and food for her arrival.
~~I did wish that the agency were still running~~
With seasons greetings
