It was that time of the year again, the hall way was pervading with cologne of different type, etiquette laughter from every corner. I was now a tenth grader and was not about to spare the first day without crying as per usual, It happens the first day of each grade every year. It was a habit even my very own best friend have to tolerate. My mom died years ago right in front of my eyes. Having to remember it was like a punishment for being there. Her body was burned to dust. It was all over the news. No trace of the criminal was found so nobody sees and nobody knows. Her death was my nightmare. Few years after that, my dad started scaring me so I ran away to go and live with My aunt, Rose and cousins, Simon and Anna.

"Tequila, sweet heart it's not fear for you to avoid me on the first day of school! I am gonna come get you!" I heard Alex holler from the exit of the females restroom as his footstep began to get louder by the second.

I get up from the toilet. "Dude this is the female bathroom and I am fine thanks for asking! Please stay where you are?!

"Too late for that" the doorknob was slowly turning until the door was pulled open. "Holy crap! Al! What are those! I mean, when you said you were hitting the gym I thought you were joking! Can I touch them?!"

A chuckle escape his lips, "Sure"

"Man I am so freaking jealous!...I mean I. Am. So freaking jealous, right now!" I gasp in surprise.

"Believe me am happy for you man." I made continuous blabber of his appearance, his transition between last year and this hits different when he was body shamed by nearly everyone. Alex was a fat fellow with many challenges. Could imagine how horrifying it must have been being bullied for his body weight, I can vividly remember all the days he went home crying until he started getting use to it. I had known him for years now, we pretty much do everything together, fighting was a popular activity since we have done it every year since 3rd grade. First day, first fight we both made it home with black eye, besides that was the very first day I met him, we were best friends from then on and were inseparable.

My eyes haven't left his rock hard abs since he was fixing my hair "You look like a hot mess Today"

My eyes met his while I glare in his face, "My nightmare was beating me up, I have to cry" I snorted and he chuckles.

"No way, you are such a badass I don't think you ever loose a fight tt" he squeeze his eyebrows inward and throw a little attitude to spice it up little bit, his feminine impersonation always be cracking me up.

With a slight laughter "let's go, don't want to waste too much time here." We march our way in the hall way.

"Well! Well! Well! If it ain't my best bud, Alex! Hey everybody! We are having a competition here! Sup with the new look man?! What?! Are you trying to take my place here?" Grieg's outburst consumes everyone attention.

I glare ferociously at Grieg when he decided to get closer to Alex's face as though he wanted a fight, "Grieg!"

"Shut up Tequila!" Kim shouted as she made her entrance.

Yah Tequila! What brand are you?! Don Julio?! Everyone giggle and mutter in response, "Stay out of this little girl this is not, your, fight!

As my thought went violent I curled my hand into a tight fist and scrolled towards him " This will not be a fight Grieg if you just back off!"

He laughs in ridicule to my threat" I love bad girls Tequila, I just think you are way too pretty for that, go and fix your hair, it looks, a little messy" He twirled his finger in the strand that was left abandoned at the side of my head.

My moan was Alex cue to drag me away from the scene farther down the hall way "She is baddie Grieg! Grieg's friend in the back yelled from a distance.

"This is not gonna solve anything, haven't we been in enough fights already? You always throw the first punch and as far as I can remember, it never ends well. We both be getting our ass kicked." He raised his fist, a gesture of fighting.

I snorted at is lecture " You think this is funny?!" He began to speak in a stern manner.

"No Al ...I ...I just ... Am sorry man" I struggled trying to fight my laughter.

"No ,more, fighting" He huffed.

"Ok fine, you got it" I agreed in vain.

We went to class right after the bell has rang and meet again after school, "Hey." He throw his toned arm around my neck as though he was going to strangle me, "I thought you weren't gonna keep your word. For what we both know your badass could use a little self control.

"Is there another rule?" He twitch a little which was insanely adorable.

"Actually, the second rule is, follow rule number one and we both won't get our ass kick"

"You mean, You getting your ass kick, because as far as I can remember I never got beat up" I teased and giggle while I mock him in the tone he was using in his Dr. Phil moment earlier.

Afterwards he did insane impersonation of Kim and Grieg's reaction , we did not stop laughing until we reach my house where we departed.

"Haven't made any new friends Today and very much not looking forward to, I love old, the older the better just like fine wine and clearly Alex is pretty much a sample of such." I thought to myself.
