I - Background

Y/N is Voldemort's cousin.

If you ask, 'How can I be the cousin of Voldemort?' Well it's a valid question, seeing that the Dark Lord was born in 1926. But what nobody knows is that Merope Gaunt wasn't the only daughter of Marvolo Gaunt. Mella Gaunt, y/n's mother, was hidden away from the world, because she was the curse of the Gaunt family, the cause of her mother's death.
With her curse, Mella aged ever so slowly, aging only a year every 3 years. Her family, of course, never bothered teaching her a thing, and only tolerated her because it had been her mother's last wish. They only talked to her in parseltongue, to ensure that she never came in contact with anyone else who could expose their secret. But Mella knew another wizard, that went to the wizarding school Hogwarts. Who he was, remains a mystery. This boy, coming home for both the Christmas and Summer holidays, taught Mella everything she needed to know. He even lent her his mother's old wand.  Unfortunately, after the wizard moved away to a new place, they lost touch.
Years later, Mella gave birth to Y/N L/N. By that time, Voldemort was reigning and he made sure that Mella was well protected and so was Y/N.
When Y/N was just 7 months old, Mella died. Due to this, Y/N and Voldemort's life took a turn for the worse. Both of them grieved, and Voldemort started paying more attention to his power and Y/N's life.
He destroyed everything that came between his way in achieving world domination.
With this attitude, he had taken half the wizarding world into his hands. Muggles were slowly realising the grave danger they were in. It was a civil war. Halloween of 1981 came. A Death Eater told his Lord about the prophecy made about his death. He also told him about who Voldemort was destined to die at the wand of. A boy named Harry Potter. The Dark Lord set off to Godric's Hollow, and barged into the Potter home. He successfully killed Harry's parents, but for some reason, the curse used on Harry backfired and Voldemort was reduced to nothing but a powerless creature. This story is based 10 years later, when Y/N receives her invitation letter from Hogwarts.
