"Em!" The four-year-old standing ankle-deep in the ocean screams, the usually calming waves not helping in any way to soothe her. Looking desperately around her, searching for her sister, who had vanished. Bailey didn't understand what was happening.
"Emma?" She calls again, her voice started to waver, tears starting to roll down her face. "how can she just dissapear? Where did she go?" Not knowing what else to do, Bailey sits down on the warm sand. After what seemed like 3 hours (but was actually 10 minutes) Bailey looked up to see her parents coming toward her.
Her mom called out to her, "where is Emma?" Noticing her tears and scared face, her parents set down their blankets and beach toys and run towards her. "Where's Emma?" Her dad repeats, a hint of panic creeping into his always-soothing voice. Bailey looks up, squinting as the sun hits her eyes. More tears hit her suit and she pulls her knees to her chest.
"I'm not sure", Bailey answers, not looking up. Her voice was barely above a whisper. Her mom kneels next to her, pulls her close and tries to calm her down. Her dad is already on the phone with 9-1-1, trying to explain what happened with no luck. "Bails, honey, tell me what happened." He says, crouching down next to his wife and daughter. "We aren't going to be upset, we just need to tell the police so they can help us." Bailey looks from her mother to her father, not sure what to say. I don't know what happened. I turned around and she was gone. but when she opened her mouth, no words came out of her mouth. She couldn't make the thoughts form into words. She stared up at her parents, watching their eyes go from confused to concerned.
"I want my sister back" Bailey said softly, feeling fresh tears starting to spill out again.
