Japanese, coming in fast 5 o'clock!
A young man whirled around. He looked to be young maybe 18. He and several men followed the older salior to the room that held the guns. Suddenly, a huge explosion boomed up on the deck of the ship. The young man, blinded by the dust and rubble, stumbled up the stairs to the deck, slipping on blood from his crewmates.
A Japanese dive bomber came out of nowhere, droping 30 or so bombs. Not knowing how long it would be until they blew, a few men rushed forward to throw them into the sea. Two other men ran to help. The first bomb exploded, killing the men and sending most the crew into chaos. Blood, bodies, everywhere. The last thing the young man remembered was seeing captain rushing to aid the the gunmen, and being shot to the ground.That young man's name was Mackie Wells.
