'"I..I..I like you, Ken.'
'Sorry, I hate ugly girls.'" This coversation traveled through her mind everyday, making her break down.
Knock, knock. "Come in."
Miko watched her aunt walk in the room and closed the door.
She sighed and said"Miko , why is your room so dark."
She walked to the curtains and pulled them
apart, making streams of sunlight enter her room. Quickly, Miko ran to the curtains and pulled them together, making the room dark again."Ok, I just want to talk to you," Aunt Hana said as she sat at the side of Miko's bed.
"Look, I know ever since that incident you have been alone and not talking, but you have to change. You have been this way since 2 years and you should try to forget what happened in the past. You are already 17. Now this is the thing. I have been observing you for the past few years and I made a decision to send you off to Aunt Josephine's house in California. You will be leaving tomorrow." Aunt Hana left the room.
Miko could not believe what her aunt said. Send her off? To California? She hated the noise, the laughing and even the Sun. Whenever she went out, she had to wear a hoodie, long sleeves and a mask that covered her mouth and nose. She suspected the reason why Aunt Hana wanted to send her off was to change her antisocial character. She heard that Aunt Josephine had four playful boys. She sighed, stood up and walked to her cupboard to pack her stuff. She knew that quarelling with Aunt Hana is useless as she is a very stubborn lady.
The door squeked open. Her aunt's head popped out. "Don't you even think about bringing your computer. Before you leave this house, I am going to check your bag thoroughly," she said that as she gestured the 'I am watching you' gesture and shut the door.
Miko mentally rolled her eyes and went back to packing. After packing, she bounced on her bed and slept like a log.
The day arrived. Miko awoke to the beeping of the alarm clock. She yawned and rubbed her eyes. Her hand reached out to silence the beeping. She looked at the time, 07:25. She got up and went to the bathroom to bathe. After that, Aunt Hana knocked and entered.
"Here Miko. My homemade onigiri made with lots of love and support. I told your parents and they totally agree. Aunt Josephine is really a kind person....," she babbles on and on. Miko did not listen and nibbled on her onigiri.
"Before I forget, bag," Aunt Hana asked. Miko handed it over and continue eating. As Aunt Hana, searched her bag, the doorbell rang. Aunt Hana stood up and walked to the door. Miko looked up and sneakily place her laptop in a secret compartment in the bag. She grinned sneakily to herself and continued eating and acting like as if nothing happened. Aunt Hana went back.
"Miko, taxi is here. Lets get going," she told Tori and carried her bag to the taxi. As usual, Miko
wore her unrevealing clothes. She wore her mask and walked out of her comfortable zone. She thought to herself," Don't show yourself."
