I stared out the rainy window as the red Honda trembled down the road. The sky was dark, the trees fogged in the distance, and I could barely see any leaves. My fist had been holding my head up for a while, and now my knuckles had started to dig into my face. Dull, square bushes pass by, with the outlines and faded paint of houses behind them.

"Hey bud, you feeling okay?" My mom says, focused on the road

"Hmm?" I voiced blankly, zoned out and questionable.

Hearing her mumble to herself, it started to pour harder. The only sounds attended were the droplets clattering onto the windows and the wipers brushing away the dreary rain.

After a while of thought and fiddling, Mom excitedly expressed, "We're here!"

Hearing that made me drop my fist into my lap and decide to shift my anxiety off for a bit. As we pulled in, the rumbling of rocks and gravel made me finally realize this wasn't just a fantasy anymore.
