PAUL WOKE UP IN A HURRY , his body was sticky from the sweat as his sheets laid on the floor. he looked around the room not quiet knowing where he was at first. his eyes scanned every corner before he had remembered he was on a ship to arrakis.

ivy. her face immediately popped into paul's mind , the dream , her dead body. paul quickly got up and opened the door to see ivy having a conversation with lady jessica.

"paul you're just in time. we're arriving." lady jessica smiled. paul looked at his mother before looking at ivy who hadn't taken one look at paul.

he was confused , had he done something wrong? he understood he went to far with his past comments towards ivy but he thought they were fine now. or maybe he was just overthinking? he couldn't quite tell , he just looked silently at the girl who payed no attention towards him.

"ivy" he gently whispered causing the blonde haired girl to turn to look at him , "are you alright?" he asked her.

the corners of her lips slightly inched upwards , "of course i am." she said before turning back around.

paul looked at the girl before out the window , they were just arriving to arrakis. he noticed how fast everyone began to stand up and get ready even ivy. she stood up and ran her fingers through her hair , she wore something similar to paul's mother. she wore a vail around her head.

paul walked up next to her adjusting his outfit. "are you nervous?" he asked her quietly to which she sighed.

"a little." she replied honestly , she didn't know how she should be feeling. very soon she was to be married to man who to her seemed very bipolar with his affections towards her.

"don't be im sure you'll do fine." he said in his same smooth tone. he attempted to put his arm around her waist to which she tensed up.

paul quickly removed his arm not knowing if ivy was comfortable or not. one thing he could tell was that she was acting very strange.

the four stood side by side each other. staring at the door that was soon to be opened. ivy messed with the ring her father gave her. she was nervous to be arriving to a new planet and to be married shortly wafted.

the doors to the ship opened , letting in light along with a gust of wind. immediately paul squinted his eyes at the bright beam of light. you could feel the change in temperature as well.

paul turned to look at ivy, making sure she was alright which, she was. it was almost unsettling to paul how calm she was, she didn't seem nervous despite her previous fidgeting.

but he couldn't get the image out of his head, the way ivy's eyes looked at him in terror. the way the blood poured out of her neck, and the scream she had let out.

"paul." ivy's voice rang through his ears like the chime of a bell.

paul's head tilted towards her direction, "ivy." he said calmly.

"are you alright?" she asked him.

paul had never noticed until now how gentle ivy's voice was. it was as smooth as silk and he could listen to it all day long, he began imagining the conversations they would have once they were married.

paul had found himself remembering the first time the two had interacted.

-

it was a rainy day on caladan, nothing out of the usual. paul was awoken by his mother and told to get ready, he was to wear his military clothes despite the cause not being military related.

he put on his clothes, the soft orange light reflected right by him as the sound of rain tapping against the glass grew fainter and fainter.

he could feel his heart beat calmly against his chest as he buttoned up his shirt and slipped on his ring.

the door to his room had opened and lady jessica stood on the other side awaiting her son.

paul let out a sigh before walking towards his mother.

"my beautiful boy," she smiled pushing his dark hair back, "you're growing up, and i'm gonna miss the days where i was able to just hold you in my arms without a care in the world." she told her son.

"mother, you act like i'm dying." paul told his mom who just smiled in return.

"you are a man now paul, and one day you won't need me anymore." she told him whilst placing a hand on his cheek.

"come now, we musn't keep our guest waiting." she told him.

paul's eyes flicked up towards his mother, "guest?" he asked, but received quietness in response.

the two of them walked down the hallways, their footsteps against the concrete echoed while the rain continued tapping in the background.

and that was when he first heard it.

that was when paul was first introduced the voice that sounded like silk, a voice that good very easily give you goosebumps.

the tone was just perfect and the way the voice carried itself was smooth, and could reach every corner of the room.

as paul got closer he saw the person whom this voiced belong to.

she had blonde hair that was just underneath her shoulders despite half of it being up in a braid. she wore a crem colored dress that brought out her hazel eyes.

but that was when paul first heard it.

her laugh.
