Jake sat in his closet still crying. Several days before his dad had beaten him, and beaten him bad. Punching and kicking, leaving Jake screaming on the ground. Bruises, a bloody nose and a black eye. Jake had been sitting in his closet crying. His arms wrapped around his knees, he hadn't seen daylight, or pretty much anything in 6 days.

Jake crawled out his closet, he groaned in pain as he still felt the soreness of his body.
Jake went to his bed and grabbed a half
druncan water bottle. He fell in tears again, taking in the aching pain. Jake felt nothibg but misery, pain, and sorrow. He hated his life, he hates his dad, he hated himself. He grabbed his pocket knife he kept in his book bag. He flipped it open shaking. He observed the sharp blade bringing it close to his skin.

He sobbed harder trying to condone the noise he made. He took the blade with shaken hands and pressed it into his skin. He took a deep breath, taking in all the pain. He dragged the knife across his forearm horizontally.

Jake exhaled letting all his stress and discomfort go with it. Blood trickled down from his arm. He wiped his tears and tried to stop the blood as well. It didn't stop it kept bleeding, wipe after wipe more blood rushed out. Jake took a sweater and put it on covering the scar and blood just made.

Jake got up from his bed and still in lots of pain and made his way down stairs. He grabbed his phone and headphones along with a banana and bottle of water. Jake hadn't heard nor saw any sign of his dad. Relieved, he left the house riding off on his bike.

Jake rode past his shitty school. Down a big steep hill. He rode down the hill with no fear. His bike sped up, he felt the wind in his hair and on his skin. He felt free and unbound, he didn't want to feel trapped or obligated, or abused anymore. He wished the moment lasted forever.

The hill came to flatter ground. Jake slowed his bike, and let out a breath, still pushing the peddles of his bike.He felt lightheaded and dizzy, it wasn't a shock to him, as he hadn't ate or drank anything for 6 days. He rode faster, finally reaching his destination.

He got off his bike and looked at the view from the bride. It wasn't very pretty but it was still somehow soothing. He took of his bag and grabbed the banana took from his kitchen. He ripped it apart enjoying the bites, he took the water and drunk it all in no time.

Jake placed the banana peeling and empty water bottle in his bag, he didn't believe in littering. Jake watched and enjoyed the view, it calmed him. Took his mind of things.

Jake lifted his sleeve looking at the cut, red with blood surrounding it. He looked at it for a few more moments. His head lifted swiftly at the sound of a voice. "Wow that hill is no joke", Jake recognized the voice immediately. Confirming his guess, Devon came around the corner passing the large bush near the bridge Jake thought no one knew about.

"Devon" Jake said suprised. "Jake!?" Beamed Devon, "What are you doing here?! Are you ok? You haven't been in school for days." Jake hadn't noticed to much but Devon was concerned, worried, he cared for Jake.

Devon stepped nearer to Jake. "I- well um I'm- I was sick." Jakes heart raced, Devon looked at him he was still worried. Jake looked awful, his hair dirty and messy, and his pants were dirty, he had a black eyes for fucks skate.

"Woah, how'd u get that black eye?!" Jake stood their speechless, trying to find words to use. Devon looked into Jakes hurt eyes.
"Jake are you ok seriously. You can talk to me."

Jake stood uncomfortably still sore, he felt tears coming on, Don't cry, Don't cry, Don't cry, he told himself. "Y-yea I'm fine, what are you doing here anyways? School isn't over yet." Jake used all his dignity to stop his tears from falling down. His voice broke as he spoke, Jake looked and sounded anything but ok.

Devon answered still with worry on his face, "I needed a break from school, I always come here when I want alone time."
Jake hadn't realized how personal and intimate Devon was, he often needed time to breathe his own and think to himself.

"Oh ok well, nice" shyly and stiffly Jake responded confused on what to say next.
What Devon said next completely surprised Jake, it honestly surprised Devon himself as well. "Wanna get something to eat? I skipped breakfast."

Jake smiled at Devon's question. "Yea, I'd lo-" he stopped himself. "I mean sure I-I could eat." Devon smiled to Jake, climbing back on his bike, "Ok lets go."

The two boys got on their bikes one again and but going a different direction from last time, to avoid riding up a hill. They laughed and smiled as they rode off together. This moment felt perfect, Jake felt happy and safe, being with Devon was comforting.

They slowed their bikes as they approached a Starbucks. They got off there bikes an placed them in a bike rack. Devon and Jake walked up making there way to the door.
