"Welcome, [REDACTED]. This is your first trial. Take a seat. You will play a game of chess against a computer. Simple, right? All you have to do to survive is win. If you lose... well, you know. Win the game within 30 minutes. If you refuse to play, your collar will suffocate you. Good luck! Your time begins... now."

Twenty people woke up, at different intervals. Some still asleep. This group of vastly different individuals were nothing out of the ordinary. Students, salesmen. Perhaps something else thrown into that mix. ...Oh, my. Pardon my chuckling. Yes, 'something else' would be an understatement. Why, would you believe me if I said that there were manipulators, cunning and evil, maybe even assassins? What would you do if you were stuck in a building with nineteen other foreign people, strangers to you? I'd certainly keep to myself, maybe make some friends along the way.
Why don't we change perspective to spice things up a bit. Here, each chapter will show you the view of a different person. Perhaps this will engage you more. Ah, yes. The first to wake up, a blue haired person named Mizuchi. She will work. Now then, let's begin.
—
Jeez. Mizuchi's head hurt like hell. Well, no surprise there, as she had been knocked out after that roller coaster of her "first trial". It being named first, she hoped there was not more to come. As her vision came to her, she let out a groan and looked around at her surroundings. Many people laid in similar positions to here, knocked out, or just seeming to be regaining consciousness as well. They seemed to all be inside an empty, bleak, and cold hallway.
Another girl, nearby her, had sat up and was squinting, examining her surroundings. She had light brown hair with striking blue eyes, wearing a casual sweater, who seemed to be announcing her shared confusion with the mere word, "Huh...?"
Another one followed, this time with blue hair. More duller than Mizuchi's, however. She wore a sweatshirt with some fashionable yet casual clothes, and had black piercings. The two she had noticed both seemed to be in their teenage years. Next, an older girl had sat up, with a pink haired child in a panda sweatshirt next to her, who was clinging onto the older girl's cloak, or cape, of some sort. There was also another pink haired child, looking to be the same age as the dull blue haired girl, who had woken up, putting it's back to the wall, with a nervous expression on it's face.
Eventually, someone had spoken up. An older woman, with a striking sense of style. She was certainly catching her breath, before talking. "Ugh...who the hell are you guys?"
The first light brown haired girl she noticed replied, with a quick mouth. "I-I don't know! I woke up here and had to run through some walls that were closing and then I got knocked out and now we're all here!"
Mizuchi took a moment, trying to see if she heard that right. If so, then this girl had experienced the same torture she had to go through. The duller blue haired teen replied, the one with the piercings. "Hey...I had to go through that, too."
Mizuchi decided to tell her experience as well, as she began to become familiar with the different faces. "You had to do that too? So did I.."
The girl with the cloak chimed in, speaking. "I had to get out of a glass box that was filling with water..." From Mizuchi's point of view, it looked like there were small thin cuts across her, but Mizuchi wasn't sure if she was merely seeing things. She was just hit on the head, so she would have to wait to find out. If her story was true, the cuts would make sense, with the glass box and all.
