EPISODE FOUR (Part One)

Ross sat on Eddie’s hospital bed, eating from a pack of raisins and annoying him. Courtney sat on the arm of the sofa that Jess was sleeping on, the excitement of the accident had gotten to her and eventually she passed out due to exhaustion. Basically, all of us hadn’t slept a single wink all night.

Jay was outside of the room, doing who the hell knows what, while I sat near the windows in a fold-up chair and watched Ross irritate Eddie.

“How many fingers am I holding up?” Ross asks him, he was holding up three fingers.

Eddie’s face scrunches up in annoyance and responds by extending his middle finger. Ross, instead of getting mad, flicks a whole raisin at him. Eddie flails around until he finds the raisin that ended up somewhere in his blanket and flicked it back at Ross who made weird gagging noises.

I cringed, hoping Ross hadn’t swallowed it. Who knows if the hospital ever replaces their old cloths with new and disinfected sheets?

I see Jay’s silhouette behind the door across from me in the room. He was motioning for me to come over. I stand up off the chair and open the door slowly to avoid waking Jess.

“Listen, you can’t ride your Vette anymore.” Jay tells me,

“How come?” I ask, my body too tired to react.

“Well, S-Sal just texted me.” He stuttered, “There was another accident caused by the same guy last night. And everyone thinks it’s you.” He says,

Wait, wait, wait, Sal has Jay’s number?! Oh, and everyone thinks that was me last night? I felt embarrassed knowing that my brain had reacted to the first thing instead of the latter.

“You can use the Agera, it’s good, it’s fast, it’s sleek, just like you like.” He was trying to console me. “We’re going to have to have uniform colors now. We have to refresh the crowd. Show them who the real Sopranos are.”

I scrunch up my brows. “What do you mean “Sopranos”? There are more of them?”

He nods and says in a low whisper. “Rumors are going around that we’re attacking other crews. Including North Star.”

My mouth falls open in shock. “What do you mean? They’re parading around in our vehicles?”

He nods, “In the exact same cars. I don’t know how they were able to do that, which is why we need to change paint jobs. I have a feeling that they won’t be able to copy us so quickly, what with all the expenses they had with all the plagiarism.”

“How do you know that’s going to work?” I ask,

“There was never any word of them until last night, which means, those vehicles, those paint jobs, were newly bought and those cars fixed up just for last night.” He says, “If we change looks, they’d have spent too much money already to try and copy us again.”

I nod. “You’re making sense, but, what about North Star?”

“That’s the problem.” He says, he looks up and wipes his face down with a sleeve. “See, North Star has a lot of rep but unlike us, they have crews all over the place, not just here in this city. So, if Damien decides to retaliate, we’re dead.” He was panting. “And what are we? There’s like only seven of us.”

“You need to have a meeting with your crew, or else, we’re going downhill.” He says, “We need to do anything that we can to be the complete polar opposite of those fakes then show ourselves in public, or else, no one can tell the difference.”
