A Christmas Proposal🎄

Yuta raced around the house, making sure everything was in its perfect place. It wasn't his first Christmas Eve with Mark, they'd been dating for five years after all. Of course the house was perfect, Mark had spent a whole day decorating their house.

He supposed it was just the nerves.

"How much longer until Mark is going to get here?" Jaehyun asked. He had been watching Yuta run around the house for the past hour, and was growing tired of it.

Yuta stopped in his tracks, staring at his friend with annoyance and frustration. "You should know, Taeyong went with him to the airport after all."

"So?" Jaehyun rolled his eyes. "We both know Taeyong is the one driving, and he won't answer his phone. So-"

"He texted you ten minutes ago saying they'll be here in twenty minutes."

"...oh."

"Just- whatever." Yuta sighed. "Does the house look perfect? I really need it to."

"It looks fine Yuta. I don't see why you're so worried about it, Mark helped make sure it looked good for Christmas."

"...that's true."

"Exactly. So come sit down and wait. The two will be back with your and their parents soon."

Yuta obliged, settling himself on the opposite end of the couch. "Your parents are coming, aren't they?"

Jaehyun nodded his head. "They'll be here-"

A doorbell ringing interrupted his words.

"-right now. I'll go get the door."

Yuta ignored Jaehyun letting his parents in the house and greeting them, instead focused on the plan for the night. It had to go smoothly. When the Jeongs greeted him with hugs and smiles, he gave a minuscule greeting in response.

"Don't worry," Jaehyun whispered when he noticed his parents confusion. "He's just worried about Taeyong and Mark getting home with the parents safely."

Eventually, conversation ensued. The room was filled with boisterous laughter, and good feelings spread through the air. Not ten minutes later, Taeyong and Mark arrived.

The duo pushed the door open, letting their parents inside. The Nakamotos headed straight to Yuta, showering him in hugs and kisses-from his mom; the Lees following suit-but with both boys.

The house then became even louder, and the good feelings were even stronger.

"Dinner is ready," Taeyong had announced at one point. "Let's eat so we can open gifts!"

Yuta didn't miss the look his [soon-to-be brother-in-law] sent him.

Dinner went smoothly. Very smoothly. The three families caught up with each other, sharing various stories of the year. And eventually, stories of their childrens' adolescent years became the main topic.

"...oh I tell you, it was just hilarious! We were baking Christmas cookies, but forgot to put the shield on the mixer bowl. So when he went to put the dry mixture in, it exploded back on him! Oh he was just covered in flour and everything else!" Mrs Lee cackled, the rest of the table following.

"Mooooooooooooom," Mark whined in response. "It's not that funny."

"Oh but it is dear."

Mark sent his mom a look. One that she ignored easily, carrying on with telling embarrassing stories about both of her sons.

Soon, the party migrated into the living room. They all gathered around the Christmas Tree, much like when they were little, and began handing out gifts.

Some black socks for Mark.

A new song-writing notebook for Taeyong.

Some red hair dye for Yuta.

Some underwear for Jaehyun.

The gift giving continued, until all the presents were gone and the space under the tree was empty. Well, all except for one. The gift was small, and almost invisible to everyone. Everyone except for Yuta, who's mind kept drifting to the small object.

Yuta precariously removed the gift from under the tree, handing it to Mark. "Open it." He urged, his heart beating faster and faster at every second he waited.

Mark was slow with opening the gift, ignoring the prying eyes around him. He was surprised, seeing a jewelry box underneath the silver wrapping paper. He looked at everyone around the room before opening it, a cry leaving his mouth at the sight.

Inside the box was a beautiful ring. It was simple in nature, just a band; but tiny diamonds filled the band.

Mark was about to speak. To ask what was going on. But when he looked up to see Yuta on one knee, a gasp left his mouth instead.

"Mark Lee," Yuta started his speech, staring at his lover with adoration in his eyes. "The past five years with you have been amazing, magical even. You've brought so much light to my full life, and I can't be more thankful for that. And I want to be with you for more years, but not as your boyfriend. I want to be your husband. So please, Mark Lee, will you marry me?"

Tears filled Mark's eyes. "Yes, yes! A thousand times yes!" He cried as he launched himself into his now fiancé's arms. "Oh my god I love you so, so freaking much Yuta."

"And I love you Mark. Merry Christmas love."
