EMILY'S POV (DAY ON ALISON'S BIRTHDAY)
"Gotta go, love" Alison kisses me just below my ear. I open my eyes; it's morning. I turn to face her, but she's up and dress, fresh and delicious, leaning over me.
"What time is it?" Oh no, I don't want to be late for the brew. fuck.
"Don't panic. I have family issues in New York" Alison rolls her eyes, and smiles at me, rubbing her nose against mine.
"You smell good." I murmur, stretching out beneath her, my limbs pleasurably tight and creaky. I wrap my arms around her neck.
"Don't go" I whisper
She cocks her head to one smile and grins. "Oh Em, I'd love to, but apparently this family deal is important"
I nod sadily and sleepily at her, and she smiles her new shy smile.
"As tempting as you are, I have to go" She kisses me, and stands up. She's wearing a black hi low dress, accented with a light brown, weaved thin belt.
"I love you, Emmy" She murmurs and she's off, way before I could reply.
I glance at the clock. I note it's already seven. I must have slept through the alarm. Well, time to get up.
--------------
As I sit down at a table on my break at the Brew, my phone buzzes.
It's a message from Alison, saying 'I miss you'.
I reply back. 'I missed you at breakfast, but Hanna was very accommodating.'
I sit in the chair, awkwardly waiting for a reply. I continuously glance at my phone, waiting for it to buzz, then it buzzes.
'What was she accommodating about? What are you up to, miss Fields?' Alison's message says.
'Wait and see. It's a surprise. xx' I reply back, almost happy with myself, for some unknown reason.
Instantly, I get a message back.
'I hate it when you keep things from me' I can almost feel Ali's stare through my phone. I stare at my phone screen. The vehemence implicit in her message takes me by surprise. Why does she feel like this?
'It's for your birthday. Another surprise. Don't be so petulant' I message her back. She doesn't reply immediately, and I'm called back into work, so I can't dwell on it for too long.
When I next glance at my phone, to my horror, it's four in the afternoon. Where as the day gone? Still no message from Alison. I decide to message her again
'Are you not talking to me? Remember I'm going for drinks with Hanna. Please try and join us'
She doesn't reply, and I feel a frisson of unease. I hope she's okay. Calling her cell phone, I get her voice mail. The announcement simply says "Alison DiLaurentis, Please leave a message" in her most clipper tone.
"Hi... uh... It's me, Emily. Are you okay? Call me. I love you" I stutter through my message. I've never had to leave one for her before. I flush as I hand up. Of course she'll know it's you, idiot!
-------------------
As I walk out of the Brew, I hear someone whistle. I turn around and look at them, surprised that they'd have the audacity to do that, then I realize who it is. Hanna.
"Em! woah, looking hotter than ever" Hanna grins and winks at me. She closes the gap between us witha tight hug.
"You don't look so bad yourself" I reply, scanning her from head to toe.
