I stood still as mother chastised me for spilling the milk. I knew it wasn't my fault the milk jug just so happened to be on the counter when I spun around. Finally mother was done she huffed and she puffed and she then walked away. As a punishment I had been designated to get the water from the well a mile away which we shared with our neighbors the McNamaras. Their family contained Mrs.McNamara, Mr.McNamara, their daughter Blaze who was 8, and then their son Neo who is my age I think, which is 14. I got my winter shoes out and tied them up and got the buckets for the water. Then I dawdled by the door to see if mother would forget about my punishment. With no luck mother walked by and started to prod me along until she just pushed me out the door. She said I have gotten a reprieve, next time I commit a transgression against her I will receive a even more severe punishment. So I trudged through the thick snow leaving small footprint in the snow banks. I picked up a handful of snow and threw it at a tree. I felt exuberant as I threw the snow like a shock of energy was going through me. I indulged myself by throwing so much snow that my fingers began to turn purple. About 20 minutes later I arrived at the well and I begin to strap the bucket onto the hook. Then Neo walked out from behind a bush and stared to tease me saying I must have been horrid to have to come and get the water. If you can guess my disposition,I was nervous I was afraid he might attack me. So I just ignored him and went on with my work. I could sense him walk behind me. I could feel his breath on my neck. Then he walked farther away and looked at me and said, "You know I am now older than you I just turned 15. You are 14, right Jinx?" I ignored him. That was a mistake. He got all mad and accused of being a dumb deaf mute girl. What I did not see coming is when he walked behind me and pushed me I stumbled and then lost my balance and I fell over the wall and plummeted into the darkness of the well. I think I fell for forever;I screamed the whole time I could hear Neo panicking above me. Then I hit the water it was freezing I felt tremors go through my body. I fought to stay above the water but it was so cold and my clothes were so heavy. My limbs began to weaken and it became harder to breath. Then I saw the gates before me. I floated out of the well and drifted towards the gates. I looked down and I saw Neo looking down the well crying and I knew it was really the end. I was not ready to go.
