So what?

Okay, so I don't write, what is so wrong with that?

I often find myself editing short e-mails and texts to my friends. I have a friend, she is a writer, I mean it, she is professionally a writer and I have read one of her books, she is completely and totally (don't those mean the same thing?) talented. I find myself editing, re-writing, and second-guessing my puncuation and my spelling (of coarse) when I text her. Even the shortest of texts I re-read and double check with spell check. She has never edited my work, or been demeaning to my texts or emails, I just feel so... pressured to sound educated.

So, what happend? How did I lose my editorial/communicative confidence? I think I should blame my teachers, they didn't teach me correctly or surely I wouldn't second guess my communication skill. Maybe I should blame George Bush, didn't he say, "C's get degrees"? I believe he did, I think I have used that quote to justify myself on more then one occasion

Then... than... when do you use which anyway? It is ridiculous that we have so many exceptions in the English language. I think I remember learning that some king in England is the reason, he was a bad speller and nobody wanted to correct him. So it isn't my fault! Some dumb king, not to meantion rival dictionaries that came about in the 17 and 18 hundreds. Seriously, flavor and flavour. Who cares? I bet the added letters add up to a lot more ink use and I'm sure in some way that increases global warming. DOWN WITH THE EXTRA LETTERS!

Back to the main topic, I'm not a good writer, which makes you wonder why I am writing this down. (I recently broke my bad habit of spelling writing like "writting" - I swear that is how I was taught in elementary school.)

Another thought, when did we decide to stop the double space between sentances on computers? I know the whole type-writer explination, I am interested in knowing how long it has taken the average person to break that habit. However I bet that has actually saved a lot of trees. Even computers are going green. Well being the voracious reader that I am I decided I needed to work on my writing skills.

Obviously I am pretty amazing, you've read this far haven't you?
