This entry will cover the first four weeks of training we received and our first mission.
After joining up with the rest of the people from Barracks 2-B. There were 150 cadets, the youngest was fourteen and the oldest was twenty-two. We were all dressed the same. The sergeant's head snapped to me. It was normal brightness for everyone else but it was a little hard for me to see without squinting for me. "First you waste our time by not coming back to life on time then you come in here squinting!? What in the nine circles of hell is wrong with your eyes, cadet!?"
One of the other officers that was there leaned in and whispered something to him.
"Ah Goddamnit...of course." The sergeant took the sunglasses from his shirt. "You gotta be kidding me with this shit..." he tossed the sunglasses to me and I caught them. "Back when I was a cadet, they didn't care if you were BLIND! You'd still have to see without any aid somehow." He continued on as I put the sunglasses on. "Now are you gonna stop holdin' us up?"
I nodded once. The drill sergeant cupped the back of his head. "Yes, drill sergeant." I said in an annoyed tone.
"Good, now follow me." The drill sergeant said before turning around. He started down the hallway and we followed.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned my to see one of the youngest of the group walking beside me. "Hey...uh...why do you have sunglasses?"
My first thought was 'Ah great I'm gonna be stuck with the children, aren't I?' I sighed and scratched my head. "Bright lights hurt my head, usually I have special contact lenses that help with the brightness but sunglasses do just as well." I said before looking forward.
"What's your name?" The kid asked.
I let out another sigh. "Leo." I responded, wanting this kid to shut up.
"My name's Jack, my twin sister Mia is behind you." The kid says, not exactly taking the hint.
"Cool." I said simply, looking at the man right in front of me.
"We're fourteen, how old are you?"
That peaked my interest. "If you're that young...why are you here?" I turned my head to Jack.
"A Wendigo killed our parents." Mia says without pause, a bit too casually for our liking.
"A fucking what?" I asked while looking back at Mia.
"Quiet back there!" The Drill Sergeant yelled.
We were taken to a large room where three other companies entered, all of them the same age ranges and size. The drill sergeant lead us to a seating labeled 2-B and we all took seats. As soon as he walked away to the stage, everyone was talking almost immediately. The two Mia and Jack sat next to my left and on my right was a dark elf. "If I knew they'd kill us by injection, I would've said no." The dark elf says.
"Injection?" I asked while looking at the dark elf.
"Yeah? Like with a needle. I don't like needles."
"...I got shot in the head." I responded which caused everyone in my immediate vicinity to look at me, Jack and Mia included. "Are you telling me I was the only who was shot in the head?"
"Apparently." The girl sitting in front of me said. "What did you like agree then resist or something?" She asks while looking at me.
"N-no, I just said 'I'm in',then I was shot in the head." I responded.
"Did it hurt?" Another person asked.
"I think? I don't really remember." I responded, rubbing the back of my head.
