The next day Clementine came over. Clementine is my best friend; she said she was sorry for what happened to Deth. I wasn't surprised that Clementine knew already, we live in a small town, so small that at times it felt like we shared the same emotions. When the Curvey's got their dog, Blacky, the whole town was merry and everyone went on and on about how cute he was. When dad died, everyone grieved- except Mr. Capsal. If life were a Steel Magnolia's Film, he'd play Mrs. Weiser. Anyway, Clementine came over, and so did Scarlett. Scarlett is the only adult, except for Corey; I can call by her first name and not feel weird about it. Scarlett never tells me why she comes, I think Deth knows, but she visits every week. Scarlett is the one who brought us our cat, Madeline O'Hara. The O'Hara part is in honor of Scarlett and the Madeline part is, well, just a pretty name. After Clementine left, Scarlett told me the news of the town. Scarlett likes to talk about what's going on in town, even though most of it is common knowledge, and if a rumor get's started, she's the girl to look at. She told me that some new people had moved into town, the Barkers. She also mentioned that they had a boy, Ted Barker. I was interested until she started asking if I would date Ted, and I told her to mind her own business.
