I was once filled with humans throwing lavish parties. The women in long and beautiful dresses. The men in sharp and well kept tuxedos. It was a lot of fun, every night was something new, something wild and entertaining. The strums of violins, the alluring notes of a piano, the shuffling of feet on my floor as the guests danced and spun around in little circles. I miss it, I miss it all. It was all ruined in a single night, no, a single moment. A loud pop and a flash of light bloodied my halls, a simple feud between men led to my abandonment. I don't blame the humans for running away in terror, but it's been hundreds of years now I think. My halls remain completely empty, my floorboards creak while my walls moan. My foundations are beginning to sink. I know it won't be much longer until the humans decide that I am no longer needed here, better off abolished and destroyed with their massive machines. I'm lonely, I wish for the old times while I was in my prime. Whenever someone walks by or starts to carefully step down the pathway leading to my door I'd open a window or two, like welcoming them inside with open arms; but whenever I did, they would just get scared and run away. This world and these humans have no need for things they do not know or understand ; such things are terrifying to them. And just yet, in contrast to such simple and flawed logic, they hold such an insatiable curiosity. That must be, after all this time, they keep coming back, time after time, to a house with a supposed soul to behold the truth with their very own eyes. Most of the humans leave in terror, but for a very few, they are overcome with curiosity; the knowledge that there are things beyond their understanding, they're my favorite. They have a nice and endearing way of reminding me of the old days, the days of parties and new excitement each and every night, even the ones that come with cans of paint and metal sticks, any kind of attention is good attention I suppose...
