The explosion from the whistling artillery shells echoed loudly through the sky as men from the Imperial army advanced into the village. They spread out widely, securing every position as they were trained, observing their surroundings like a hawk to locate any enemies. They advance through the area weapons drawn, giving each other the all-clear as they believe the area is secure.
Confidently walking in the open field seeing no one but themselves, they banter with one another about the cowardness of their enemies and how their artillery scared them away. But unknown to the Soldiers, another army was waiting patiently in flower fields, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
When the moment was right, a blue-haired male sprung into action with his squadmate closely following from behind. He leads the charge by unleashing automatic fire at their enemy.
"We got Enemi-" Before finishing his sentence a bullet had penetrated his metal mask.
From the distance, a black-haired sniper cocks the bolt of her rifle to load the next round.
Sergeant Kai Schulen watches as her partner- Sergeant Raz- rushes towards the enemy lines without hesitation, dodging the hail of bullets that was unleashed from the enemy. For a while, her squad was assigned far from the battlefield but today was the day they showed the brass what Squad E is made of.
Kai locked her sights on another unfortunate soul and hastily pulled the trigger. The recoil of the sniper lunges into her shoulders as the bullet expelled from the rifle's barrel and a split second later she saw the Imperial soldier collapse into the floor.
Smiling in satisfaction the sniper chucked, "Too easy." she remarked.
Seeing the enemy falling from his defective plan and also seeing his Squad starting to take the initiative. Watching the battle, First Lieutenant Claude Wallace reached for his radio and ordered his Squad to begin a counter-attack.
Suddenly the driver's hatch opens to reveal Sergeant Miles Arbeck.
"How's everything going?" The young driver asked.
Claude faced his driver with a confident smile, "It's all going according to plan, Miles. It seems the Ranger course was worth something."
"Yeah, one hell of a course that was..."
Seeing the enemies showing signs of weakness, Claude reached for his radio and called in everyone, "The enemy has taken some beating. Now's our chance to take the offensive! Push them back as much as possible."
Hearing the orders from his commander, Raz gave an enthusiastic smile before charging ahead into the hail of bullets. He fired his submachine gun in a burst, taking out a few men in his solo charge.
"Come on you Imps! A boy scout could aim better than ya."
Seeing her partner taking the offensive by himself, Kai could only sigh in disappointment. Even if this is their first engagement on the frontlines, she was not surprised by Raz's attitude. She'd known him for quite a while now, it's almost nothing about him has changed.
Kai swiftly spotted a rifleman left of Raz aiming his rifle at him. She hastily aimed down her scope and rapidly pulled the trigger, taking out yet another soldier.
"Raz, you're too far forward! Stay in formation!" She screamed. But the Darcen sergeant could not hear as the gunshots were masking her voice. Knowing that she'll never reach him in time, Kai could only pray that Raz will not get himself killed. She aimed down her rifle whiles giving out a sigh in disappointment,
"You're a goddamn fool, Raz." She mutters.
