*Crack.*
A snowball landed hard on the back of Maria's head. She whipped around in time to see a slight form duck behind a pillar. Her HUD radar blipped red in the corner of her vision, but she was frozen for a few seconds.
"You can't hide from me, Draken!" Maria shouted across the arena, then as soon as she could move she threw a snowball of her own at the opposite side of the pillar, anticipating the Hunter's flight. Instead her snowball hit the ground, and her target catapulted backwards through the air, fleeing from a new threat. Maria ducked as well the moment Arachno came into view; she knew that the only way she could land a hit on her opponent would be while said opponent had her eyes on a different target. She sat still and watched her radar flash. There was Draken, to the left, and the fact his radar ping was blinking meant he had crouched down to hide. Then Arachno came into the radar range, and her ping was moving rapidly towards Draken's.
Here we go. Maria moved slowly backwards, trying to keep Arachno in sight without being seen herself. Then she stood and ran, then slid into the cover of a large cubic rock. She readied a snowball and checked her radar– too late. The whole circle flashed red for an instant and Maria's face was suddenly filled with snow. She heard Arachno's telltale cackle as she leapt away, leaving Maria frozen again and cursing to herself. I should have known that Arachno would have seen her own radar flash, especially since I RAN. Then she chuckled as she heard another snowball impact across the arena. At least she wasn't the only one who barely stood a chance against Arachno.
The time ticked down to 30 seconds. "One more try," Maria muttered to herself as soon as she was able to move again. She stood and ran towards where she heard Draken get hit. A reckless maneuver, perhaps, but it sometimes worked. Emphasis on sometimes. She checked her radar, then quickly threw two snowballs toward the red ping. 20 seconds on the clock. Arachno ran out from her cover, ready to launch a snowball, but Maria was already throwing her third. It exploded with a satisfying crunch. Only a body shot, but that was all it took to temporarily disable a Guardian in this game. Draken's radar signal flashed back to red behind Maria, and she launched herself into the air as quickly as she could. A snowball whizzed past her thigh and she threw blindly. *Poof.* It evaporated harmlessly against the snow on the ground, and she threw a second just as Draken's projectile nailed her square in the chest. *Crack.* Her snowball met his body in the same moment as she hit the ground.
Arachno was unfrozen; she ran around the corner and saw Maria and Draken both disabled on the ground. She laughed, and taunted them both with a dance, flaunting her high score as the time ticked down and down. 8... 7... 6... Draken was unfrozen. 5... So was Maria. 4... They both joined in Arachno's dance. 3... 2... 1.
"GAME OVER!!" The game announcer's computerized voice boomed across the arena. "Arachno is the victor! Better luck next time, Guardians."
"GG, Arachno." Maria shook the Warlock's hand, and they laughed. Draken laughed too.
"Maybe next time we 2v1. Maybe then we'd stand a chance, huh?" His face was split into a huge grin.
"I'd still crush you both and you know it," Arachno chuckled.
