June 1623

Beomgyu stood in his wardrobe, fixing his hair in the mirror. Another year had passed and it was now June. This happened to be Beomgyu's favorite time of the year.

June 8 was the day of the annual summer ball and festival. All of the civilians and farmers and nobles in the kingdom would gather and have a festival. There was food, decorations, music, and games. In the palace, there was a ball.

Friends from other kingdoms and other lords and ladies would come and celebrate. The tradition was started after the kingdoms of Masteire, Lecilux, Adeania, and Vaiba united after the Great War many years earlier. This war successfully banished magic from the kingdoms. The only kingdom that used magic was seen as their greatest threat, the kingdom of Ithulia.

It was now June 7th, the day before the festival and many preparations were being done. It seemed that the castle was always busy these days.

Beomgyu had been especially busy with lessons again, only this time it was even more focused towards his coronation. He would spend hours rehearsing and learning what it truly meant to be a King.

And now, he was simply getting ready for dinner.

''Taehyun, I need your help.'' he called out to his servant, who was making final adjustments to his suit for tomorrow's event.

''What is it?'' he said as he walked over. He stood in front of the prince, who watched him, as if memorizing his image.

''Nothing, I just wanted to see you.''

Taehyun scoffed and glared at the other. ''We see each other almost every second of everyday.''

Beomgyu just smiled and bent down to press a kiss on Taehyun's cheek.

Taehyun rolled his eyes and grabbed the hem of the prince's shirt, pulling him in and kissing his lips.

The tips of Beomgyu's ears turned red and he felt himself heat up. He still gets flustered by Taehyun.

He leaned in for another kiss, when they heard a knock on the door.

''Your highness, the king would like to see you,'' Minju announced from outside.

''Alright, I'll be there in a minute!'' He called. He turned and kissed Taehyun passionately, like he hadn't kissed him in days.

''Go, go, the king wants you..'' Taehyun said, shoving the prince off of him. He hid his face as he felt a blush creeping on his cheeks.

Beomgyu chuckled at the man like he wasn't just blushing madly himself a minute ago. He skipped out of the bedroom, a small smile on his face. Which didn't go unnoticed by Yeonjun who met him in the hall.

''You seem to be in a good mood. Didn't know you and Taehyun were friends.'' Yeonjun sneered.

Beomgyu just shrugged and walked down to the throne room with Yeonjun trailing behind him.

The large doors leading to the throne room were opened by two guards, bowing before the prince.

''Beomgyu,'' the king boomed, ''I'm glad you're here. There are many things to discuss.'' he snapped his fingers and the guards left their posts, leaving only the King and his son in the room. Except for Yeonjun of course.

''You have been learning well with Harrison, finally taking a break from all of that swordsmen nonsense. Leave that to the knights.''

Beomgyu struggled to hide his scowl.

''What did you want to speak to me about father?''

The king sighed. ''As you know, tomorrow is the annual festival, and you are of age.'' Beomgyu started to understand where he was going with this. ''Next year you will be crowned the King of Lecilux, and every King needs a Queen. There will be many suitable women at the ball tomorrow. You must choose one to marry.''
