Hermione stared at the drink in front of her, mulling over the unexpected revelation that occurred when she returned her parents' memories to normal. She still remembered standing there, frozen as memories she 'd not herself removed flickered into her head from her father's mind.

Only another wizard or witch could have modified those memories she just restored yet the flicker of memories—there was no mistaking the Dark Mark and the Dark Mark was definitely on the arm of the person from whom the memories were from.

The flickers of memory stopped and her father darted away, avoiding her, making Hermione think he hated her, hated her mother as she lowered her wand. Her mother turned and looked at her, frowning yet saying, "I'm not mad at you."

Which made Hermione realize that her mother knew about her father 's past, something she didn't understand.

Not until her mother said, "He hates himself, not us. And he thinks you'll hate him now that you know."

She felt her chest tighten. "He..."

"I don't think he'll want to talk about it," her mother said. "At least not yet. You—your magic undid something we never expected to ever be undone."

There she sat mulling it over, not having anyone to talk it over with. " That 's not quite true. "

Harry and Ginny were on a trip together in hopes of getting Harry away from the wizarding populous who didn 't seem to want to leave any of the heroes alone, while Ron seemed to eat up all the attention. The rest of the Weasley family were focused on funeral plans which made bringing her father's past up when they were dealing with their own troubles.

She did bring it up with Ron. "What if, say, I weren't Muggleborn."

"You mean if you weren't born with magic."

"No, I mean if one or more of my parents isn't a Muggle."

"That's silly," Ron stated. "The only thing sillier than that would be if one of your parents was secretly a Death Eater."

"What?" Hermione's eyes widened. "What if that were the case?"

"Come on. I'd never date the daughter of a Death Eater. Everyone knows their kids are just like them."

Which led to her snapping at him that he was prejudiced, though she wondered if there weren 't some truth, not because she saw herself as being evil like all of the Death Eater's they knew, but because there was some inkling in the back of her head that her father was different, particularly with her mother saying he was worried that his half-blood daughter might hate him for his past.

"There must be good in my father."
