"...me?" The person said, and I bit my lip.
"Yeah. I mean, I haven't seen you here...before. Not that I'm a creep or anything, it's just-"
"No. This-this is my first time." They said. There was a pause. "I feel like it would be easier to be awkward if we were actually making eye contact." They chuckled, and suddenly I heard them move and get up from their seat. In the left of my peripheral, they came into view, and then they sitting in front of me. Literally across from me. "Lilith." She said, putting her hand out. "She they, what are your pronouns?" I shook her hand, fingers tingling when they touched hers.
"Uh, he him. And I'm..." my mind slowly went blank. I only really introduced myself as my English name - Sky - when I wasn't that sure people wouldn't judge me for my native name. So in this case, it would just make sense to tell her my English name. But...maybe that would come back to bite me later. "Seungmin. I'm Seungmin. Moved here a few years ago." Lilith cocked her head at me.
"Cute name - victorious and clever, right?"
"You know Korean?"
"Yeah. I learnt a bit when I was younger."
She knows Korean too? She was close to my dream girl at this point. Despite the tentation when the conversation had started, the minutes passed as we introduced more about each other. She was a writer - writers are so romantic. And she didn't like going out much, which doesn't sound that desirable but damn that was my kind of woman. And the whole time, I couldn't stop getting distracted by Lilith's eyes. I'd heard Lilith meant darkness somewhere. Her eyes were nowhere near the connotation of 'dark'. On the contrary - they were like cesspools of light. I think she'd caught me staring several times, but I just couldn't help it.
There wasn't really much I could say to her anyway. Average photography student from Asian country, That's all there was, but somehow they still managed to muster some kind of fascinated face that actually looked genuine.
The sky was darkening when we finally halted our conversation.
"It's already 4pm? I'm sorry, I really have to go." Lilith stood up abruptly, brushing hair away from her face. "It was nice meeting you, Seungmin." My heart fluttered.
"Y-you too." And with that, the angel waved, and left.
God, am I smitten.
