"God, you're absolutely gorgeous, Jules." The sandy blonde, top teenage golf player in Hilton Head tucked his head back into the brunette's neck, letting out a low sigh and planting kisses along the perfumed skin, his hands hungrily coursing up and down her waist. "I can't get enough of ya."
Julie, on the other hand, had had more than enough. The whole reason she was with this guy- Robbie Winifred, to be exact- was because of her parents, as per usual. They were hosting yet another cotillion at their Hilton Head estate, and Julie's mother thought it would be "just splendid" if her daughter got to know the "absolutely delightful, talented, and handsome, too" son of her new best friend, whom she had met last week at the country club. So, of course, Julie complied to save herself an argument, and decided to go out and talk to this guy. Talking turned to dancing, and dancing turned to being pinned up against the back of her gazebo in the backyard, with this preppy blonde running his lips over any piece of skin he could find.
Julie's eyebrows rose up at the boy's words, her lips curling into a frown. "Yeah, great," she muttered, trying to shimmy out of his grasp. "How about we head back to the party, hey? My mother's probably worried sick about where I am."
Robbie was having none of it. Smirking to himself, his hands went to try to pull down the front of her dress, his lips running against her collarbone. "C'mon, I can't, not when I've got you here."
Julie's eyes snapped open, batting his hands away as she struggled to move away. "I have to go, just god damn let me go," she grumbled, shooting a glare at him.
Robbie then took his hands and slid them up her thighs, beneath the paisley patterned dress skimming above her knees, his fingers finding the hem of her underwear and looking at her with a gentle smile. "C'mon, Jules, it'll be great..."
Her eyes wide, the startled eighteen year old shoved him back, her feet roughly kicking against his shins until she made sure he was sprawled out against the grass sparkled with dew. "I said let me go, okay?! Leave me alone!"
Little did the girl realize just how loud her voice was. Storming out from behind the gazebo, she was met with a stunned, silent audience, cocktails in hand. Julie's brown eyes widened, her lips parting as she searched the crowd, trying to find something to say. Her hues met with the startled eyes of Mrs. Winifred, and then with the disappointed ones of her mother.
"Erm," she started, her hands fumbling in front of her waist as she sought for something to say. Boy, it was so silent you could hear the summertime crickets buzzing in the bushes. "I'll... I'll excuse myself now. I hope you all have a lovely night."
And then, the walk of shame proceeded. Though, of course, Julie would prefer this walk of shame over the one that would've happened if Robbie's hands had stayed on her. Stumbling inside, she kicked her white shoes aside, rushing up to her bedroom.
Ah, her gorgeous, white bedroom. Designed by her mother, of course. Photos of the beach and areas of Hilton Head were cascaded across the walls, and everything was prim and in order, fit for a princess. The only sign Julie existed there, really, was the splattering of records across the floor and a radio atop her nightstand. Flopping onto her bed, Julie Baker reached for the radio, turning it on and tuning it. Instantly, the music flowing through calmed her. The soft strumming of a guitar, a drum beat kicking in. "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. If you're going to San Francisco, you're going to meet some gentle people there...."
Julie was tired of it all. Sick and tired. Sometimes, she wondered if she'd get out of this god damn world of debutantes and status and who was wearing who. It sickened her, really, and by the age of eighteen, she was just about done.
