It all happened so fast. How the one person that was keeping you together can be swooped away from you in a matter of seconds. Tears weld up in the young boys eyes as his aunts lifeless body laid in front of him, his last living relative, dead on his living room floor. Paramedics and police officers cascaded into Peters small apartment, two of them pulling the small 13 – year old off his aunts lifeless body.

The world began to blur around him as he sat on his apartment steps waiting, wondering if this is all a bad dream and will wake up in his afternoon science class from the teacher yelling at everyone to do their homework. Deep down he new that was never going to happen and that this was the sad reality called life. A tap on his shoulder snapped him out of his dissociated state, "hi Peter, I'm Lizzy Johnson" a lady in her 20s says, her median length dirty blonde hair slightly damp from the rain outside, "I'm here to take you to your new placement" she said, her slight English accent showing through as she takes a seat next to the young boy, "and as you could of guessed Im your social worker" Lizzy states in a matter of fact tone as she dramatically flips her hair back, causing peter to crack a slight smile, "so how about we take a trip back to the station and we can have a chat, get to know each other?" she asks a slight smile on her face.

"Yeah, um sure" Peter whispers just loud enough for her to hear.

"Okie dokie, lets roll" standing up Lizzy looks to peter signaling for him to follow,

"Um can I get some of my stuff? If thats okay," the young boy stutters, playing with his hands as he stands up,

"Yeah, would you like me to come with you?"

"No, its all good, I will be down in a minute"

"Okay"

As he walked into his apartment, the metallic smell of blood clogged his senses. Walking to his room he couldn't help but feel like it was all his fault, if he got home on time from the internship, he could have saved her, he could have stopped it all. He found him self on autopilot walking to his room. Grabbing a duffel bag and stuffing it with all the clothes that would fit, he turned to his bedside table grabbing a framed picture of him, his parents, May and Ben, he was four at the time, sitting on his fathers shoulders with an iron man mask on from when he went to the stark expo back in 2010. He shoved the photo into his bag, bending down he grabbed a box out from under his bed, just in case, he thought he took one last look around his room before he went into mays room and grabbed on of her jumpers he always borrowed, it used to be Bens, then it was Mays, now it was his. Hugging it to his chest for a minute before walking out of the room.

Walking past his room he took on last look, spotting his school bag in the corner of his room, cant forget you now can we, walked grabbing his school bag and walking back to meet Lizzy.

(time skipppppppppp)

The one thing Peter wanted to do, was cry. Curl up into a ball and cry until he couldn't breathe, couldn't see, or couldn't hear anything around him, but he couldn't. Instead, he was in the back of Lizzy's car, staring out the window as he internally screamed. Everything felt numb and he hated it, the worst part was that Lizzy kept on staring back as if to see if he was okay. It. Was. Terrible.

As they pulled up to the Police Station, Lizzy gave a reassuring smile back to young teen as she stepped out of the car followed by peter. Walking through the giant glass doors, a receptionist waved to Lizzy, a worm smile lacing her lips, "hey Lizzy, who have you got here?" she smiled down to peter, pity evident in her eyes.

"This is peter, we are just getting to know each other"

"Hi peter, it is lovely to meet you," the boy rolled his eyes at the baby voice she made, it was really degrading, 'bitch' he thought as he walked over to a chair in the corner of the room, waiting silently. Five very long minutes past, Lizzy made her way over to peter, flashing a smile as peter stood up following her down a white empty hallway, windows and doors lining each side.

The room was dark and looked like it was one of those interrogation rooms from cop movies. It was intimidating, especially if you were in their alone, he was alone. Alone in this dark, intimidating room. He was facing a mirror type, glass window, "Is there someone behind that glass window?" his voice bouncing off of the plain walls surrounding him, his guess to his question was yes, but got no reply. "YeAh PeTeR, tHeRe Is SoMeOnE bEhInD ThAt mIrRoR", a sarcastic tone lacing his voice. Wiping away a stray tear, the door opened, revealing a young but tall man, no older than 30. His black, curly hair shining in the little light provided, blue orbs looking directly at the young teen. "Hi Peter, I'm Danial Martin" the man stated, taking a seat in front of Peter, confusion spread through the teen as he eyed the strange man sitting in front of him.

"Where is Lizzie?"

"Out"

"Out where?"

"Look kid, she had to take on another job," he sighed exasperatedly. Silence filled the room as Peter Stared at the blue eyed man sitting in front of him, the smell of coffee lingering in the air around them as Daniel took a sip of his scorching hot black coffee, eyeing the file sat in front of him.

"Mr. Martin?" the elder hummed as he looked up at the young boy, "is their anyone behind that mirror?"

"No, peter, their isn't," sitting his mug on the table, he stared at Peter, a slight smile pulling at his lips, "Okay, so at the moment we are trying to sort out a placement for you at the moment, we don't know where that will be, but we need to know if you have any other living relatives," peters vision blurred as he looked to the person in front of him.

"No, she was the last one," the sad reality was he had on one, he was alone in this dark, cruel, world.
