The theatre screen was complete white, and nothing happened, before a voice rang out.
It's a bit sudden, but listen seriously to the question I'm about to ask and think about the answer carefully.
Most of the students had not recognized the voice yet.
Except one.
Karuizawa was shocked upon hearing the voice.
'Kiyotaka?'
Kiyotaka was slightly off put. Of all the ones the god could have chosen, he chose to put it in his perspective. And he also chose to showcase his school first.
'If my memory serves me correctly, this was before I enrolled in advanced nurturing high school, still stuck in that place.'
The students listened in anticipation, some more than others.
Question: Are people equal or not?
Looking at the question from it's very base form, shinomiya could only conclude no.
Disabilities, illnesses, natural talent, poverty were all things uncontrollable, yet absolute in it's effect.
A disabled man would never be able to walk normally.
A sick child may never grow past his youth.
Poverty prevents education, and lack of education ensures the poverty is never killed off. Poverty simply bred more poverty.
Natural talent, however was not always effective.
If someone with no natural talent worked hard, it was possible to beat someone with natural talent.
Her boyfriend was proof of the fact.
Shinomiya kaguya, for all her tutoring, and all her smarts, had never once beaten shirogane in the exams ever since he challenged her that one day.
These days, all society loves to talk about is equality. People are calling for men and women to be treated equally, and shouting for society to get rid of inequality. They call for high employment rates for women, personal-use cars for everyone, and they go as far as to find fault with the order of the register of names. People even advocate equality for people with disabilities, and now the public is encouraged to stop using the term "disabled people." Children are being taught that everyone is equal.
"Yes."
Sakuta muttered.
"People do sure love going with the flow."
Auditor iino had mixed opinions about the words of the person speaking.
On one hand, her own parents were members of that society, her father being a judge of a supreme court. He had encountered many claims of "equality" in the court room, and even had a hand in shaping certain laws broaching the subject.
On the other hand, the person speaking had no flaws in his words. Still, various laws have been passed that state that a certain amount of women must be present in every company, and as a result, some incompetent women were accepted, while more competent men were being turned away at the door, as a result of "equality."
Is that really true?, I wondered.
Men and women have different roles if they have different abilities. People with disabilities are still disabled, no matter what term they call disabled people. None of this has meaning if no one pays attention to it.
In other words, the answer is no.
People are unequal beings; there are no truly "equal" people.
