Graypool lapped at the three kits fur. "You have to look perfect for your apprentice ceremony."
Mosskit puffed out her chest. "I'm going to be the best apprentice!" She said. Graypool ignored her. "Mistykit, remember to smile proudly, and please, Stonekit, don't give you mentor a headache."
Graypool stopped grooming the kits. "Off we go now."
Mistykit and Stonekit whispered and got up. Mosskit flinched, waiting for her mother to give her advice.
"And, Mosskit," Graypool said. "Um, have fun."
Mosskit smiled but inside she was hurt. I wish she'd like me more.
Crookedstar smiled down. "Mosskit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be know as Mosspaw. Your mentor will be Leopardfur."
Leopardfur touched noses with Mosspaw. Cheers were heard around camp. "Stonepaw! Mistypaw! Mosspaw!" Mosspaw looked at her littermates. They looked so mature. Mosspaw tried to copy them. One day, I bet, one of them will be deputy.
"Come, Mosspaw." Leopardfur called. Mosspaw excitedly bounded up. "Are you going to show me hunting crouches? Silverpaw showed me one!"
Leopardfur didn't blink. "No. We're going to the elders den."
What? "Um, excuse me, Leopardfur, why are we visiting the elders?"
"Y-your, never mind. They need their nests padded." Leopardfur replied.
Something's happening without me... Mosspaw saw Mistypaw and Stonepaw about to leave camp. Graypool watched them with kind eyes. She never looks at me like that. Mosspaw growled under her breath.
"You dislike your mother?" Leopardfur commented.
"Yes." Mosspaw answered reluctantly. "I mean, um, a bit."
Oakheart, heard Mosspaw's reply. He sighed. Those eyes. So much like Bluefur's.
Mosspaw and Leopardfur fixed the elders den and then ate. After that, they just sat with the warriors. So much for first impressions. Mosspaw sighed. I hope tomorrow's better.
